Day 7 in Germany (last full day)
1. Went to the beautiful old town of Heidelberg. Had time to walk the city and explore cathedrals, the University Men’s Jail (where the held those from the university who may have had too much to drink) and other structures
2. Had a mini walking tour of the city
3. Rode a train to the Heidelberg Castle and then did a tour.
4. Traveled to the town of Ladenburg for an hour of fun softball activities with another US team and members of the local German team.
5. Recieved a medal and t-shirt from those who organized the games we have been playing.
6. Enjoyed grilled brats and burgers with many homemade sides for dinner with all 4 of Americas Teams and the German Team.
7. Back to the hotel, both happy and tired, ready to pack for our flight home tomorrow
07/12/2026
Day 6 in Germany:
1. Started our day playing against 2 German teams in an Invitational. We won the 1st and lost the 2nd. The 2nd team consisted of women ages 25-55 ( some Americans) who are retired from playing at the National Level of softball in Germany.
2. Again… had a great meal at the field.
3. Back to our hotel to change to head out to see Frankfurt
4. 1.5 hr walking tour of Frankfurt
5. Dinner and shopping in Frankfurt
07/11/2026
Day 5 in Germany
1) Drove 3 hours to Rothenburg. Enjoyed local food, shopping, and an old beautiful town. We learned why it wasn’t destroyed by The Roman Catholic Bishop and his Army as they moved through Germany. The original city wall still stands and is hundreds of years old. Also, many visited the Prisoners Museum which included old Medieval Torture Devices for criminals
2) Drove 2 hours to the modern city of Frankfurt.
3) Enjoyed a delicious dinner and then took team pictures. Everyone dressed up and looked great.

Day 4 in Germany:
1) Started with a 4.6 mile bike tour through Munich. We stopped every so often with our tour guide to learn about historic sites in Munich
2) Individual tour time in Munich which included activities such as eating local foods, shopping, eating gelato, and climbing 306 steps to the top of the cathedral bell tower.
3) watched people surfing in the river
3) Game against a very strong Freising Grizzlies (most team members were in their 20’s) final score 6-8
4) Grilled burgers with the other team.

Day 3 in Germany:
1) Started our day at Dachau Concentration Camp. Such a powerful visit.
2. Went to Regensburg. This town is a beautiful German town with a bridge entering the town that is over 900 years old. Lots of shopping and eating.
3. Visited a Cathedral in Regansburg that took over 300 years to build.
4. Played against a German National Softball Team and took the W 10-3
5. Pizza was provided in the clubhouse

Day 2:
1) Guided tour of Neuschwanstein. (Mountain hike to the castle)
2) Lunch in the town of Schwangau
3) Rode down a mountain in the Alps on the Alpine Coaster
4) Had a practice/game against/with a German & Austria developmental team.
5) Learned German cheers and taught American cheers
6) played on a field where the Alps and a castle were our view toward the outfield
7 ) Home cooked lasagna dinner at the field with the other team
8) Swapped phone numbers and social media platforms with new friends.
9) Learning there is so much more to the game of softball than what happens between the lines.

1) 8 hour overnight flight to Munich
2) tour of 1972 Olympic Stadium
3) walked the city center area of Munich
4) practiced with other American teams and a German team
5) heading to the hotel exhausted

Sometimes people come into your life and you don’t even know what a positive impact they will have on you. Mae has been hitting and pitching at the shed for about 7 years. This girls always brought a smile to lessons. She played the game simply for the Love of it. To say we will miss Mae and her red Christmas socks is an understatement.
