Merkel Farm Equestrian Center is located in Bowie (MD) is looking for an experienced barn worker. Merkel is located 30 minutes outside of DC/Baltimore and 20 minutes from Annapolis.
Shift Duties included: feeding, turn out, watering/haying, blanketing, stall cleaning, horse care. AM shift starts between 6am-7am and PM shift starts about 3:30pm.
We are looking for someone who is interested in growing with a lesson barn, someone extremely reliable, motivated, responsible, hard working, mature adult with experience in general barn maintenance. Must be able to lift over 50lbs, have transportation, and speak english. 2 week trial period. Drama free, professional friendly environment. References are required. Merkel Farm Equestrian Center is located in Bowie (MD) has multiple stall openings for new boarders. Merkel Farm is located 30 minutes outside of DC/Baltimore and 20 minutes from Annapolis. 3 barns, 30+ matted stalls, lighted indoor and outdoor arena with full jumps. Multiple fields with mixed or gelding or mare only turnout and miles of trails connecting to the WB&A trail. . Fresh water, Good quality hay and round bales given on a daily basis. Owner/manager/ and staff live on site to oversee operations. Open to trailering to local shows as well.

There are no words to describe the pain and heartbreak we are feeling over the loss of our very own Reggie aka Once In A Blue Moon. There was nothing this sweet horse couldn’t do. From trails to shows to riding ba****ck to cross country and everything in between he was the one to carry people through it all. Those that knew him since the beginning know his journey from timid and shy to strong and brave. He was honest as they come, truly one of the best. Groom your horses just a little bit longer. Stay in the field with them and exist in their space. Sneak them one extra treat and a pat. You don’t know when your time with them will come to a close. We will miss our very own Once In A Blue Moon

Onsite housing is available( beautiful fully furnished basement with one bedroom, one living room, kitchen, bathroom, gas stove, microwave, full refrigerator/freezer and full size washer and dryer). Could accommodate a single adult or couple. This could be the perfect set up for someone with farm/horse care experience who has a remote job. Merkel is located 30 minutes outside of DC/Baltimore and 20 minutes from Annapolis.

Words cannot express the sadness we feel at the loss of Merkel Farm’s own Courageous Summer. Summer was a beloved pony with the biggest bravest heart around. She was our golden girl, truly a one of a kind pony, able to bring kids from timid riders to strong show individuals. There was nothing Summer couldn’t do, teaching her riders to be strong and confident especially with catching, grooming,tacking, riding and everything in between. She will be dearly missed by all, past and present students. We will be posting more photos over the days showing off our Golden Girl. We would love to see everyone’s photos of Summer if you want to tag us PS to our beautiful pony in heaven please give Woody lots of love and don’t worry, we will find a friend to keep Domino company.
