Love this quote from Joss Whedon, the creator of one of the most famous show’s featuring a strong female protagonist, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Although there has been some progress, the need for prominent female characters in TV and films is still huge. According to a study by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media of 122 films, of the 5,554 speaking characters, only 29.2% were female.

Kudos to Joss Whedon for featuring so many strong female characters in his shows, a tendency he contributes to his mother’s influence over his worldview!
