SCARS are not a source of SHAME but a sign of STRENGTH.
In 2009 my wife almost died.
A chronic illness called gastroparesis caused her to lose so much weight that she had to get a feeding tube surgically inserted into her side.
The surgery was botched and resulted in liquid food flowing into her body instead of her stomach — surrounding and suffocating her organs and heart.
Surgeons in the emergency room made a huge cut in Sonja’s abdomen in order to clean out all of the foreign fluid from her body cavity.
As those wounds healed, massive scaring was left behind.
Unfortunately, mainstream culture often pushes the narrative that “imperfection” is ugly.
Comparing ourselves to photoshopped and filtered posts can make us feel ashamed of how we look and of the permanent marks life has left on our bodies.
But I believe that narrative is false.
Scars are not a source of shame. They are a sign of strength.
When I see Sonja’s scars I see the beauty and power of a woman who never quits.
I see a reminder that — what doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger.
I see a real woman, radiating real beauty, and rising above life’s challenges.
And I’m reminded that Jesus, The Perfect Savior of the world, still has scars in his hands.
Jesus’s scars — as healed wounds — forever tell us of our final victory in him.
And now, 10 years after that horrific hospital visit, we are looking forward to the birth of our first son.
And I’m excited for him to learn what real beauty is and hear the stories of survival behind his mom and dad’s scars.

SI joint dysfunction is found in approximately 10-25% of people complaining of low back pain.
The sacroiliac joint is made up of the sacrum (triangular bone at the base of the spine) and the ilium (pelvic bones) and is a shock absorber for our spine.
Causes for SI joint pain include:
📌Trauma such as sudden fall on the buttock or 🚗 accident
📌Pregnancy (due to the hormonal changes)
📌Overtraining or suddenly increasing exercise that is very advanced 🏋🏽♀️
Symptoms include but are not limited to:
📌Sharp🔪 stabbing, or dull pain on one side of your pelvis/low back, groin, or tailbone
📌Pain with turning in bed, standing from a sitting position, walking 🚶♀️ , standing, and prolonged sitting
📌Pain the hip/buttock region
