Dive into the spirit of generosity with Give Big Gallatin Valley, a 24-hour celebration of giving that fosters connections between our generous community and the causes they hold dear. Over nine years, Give Big has achieved remarkable milestones, raising over $14.3 million for 425 Gallatin County nonprofits. In 2023 alone, 6,650 community members rallied together, raising an astounding $2.92 million for 250 local organizations.

This year, our hearts are dedicated to supporting two incredible organizations: Friends of Gallatin Country Sheriff Search and Rescue (FGCSSAR) and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Big Sky Country.

FGCSSAR is our lifeline in times of crisis, tirelessly searching for the lost and missing, rescuing the injured and stranded, and safely reuniting them with their loved ones. The dedicated members of the GCSSAR team are volunteers who selflessly give their time, day or night, away from work, family, and personal pursuits, to ensure the safety of our community.

Meanwhile, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Big Sky Country has been igniting the power and promise of youth since 1973, enriching the lives of countless local children through one-to-one mentoring relationships. Their mission is to create a brighter future for our youth, nurturing their potential and guiding them towards success.

Join us in making a tangible difference in our community. Together, let's rise to the challenge, spread kindness, and support the vital work of these extraordinary organizations. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, can help transform lives and strengthen our community for generations to come.

Hello! My name is Eddie. I grew up in Golden, Colorado. I was willingly flung into the mountains on skis, a bike, and my feet by my parents. As I got older, I took a natural step in mountain travel: rock climbing. I found love for the sport in my backyard and love for the community at the local gym Earth Treks Golden. After working at Earth Treks through high school, I moved to Bozeman in 2021 to study Geography at Montana State. When I'm not in school or the gym, I enjoy exploring the open spaces surrounding Bozeman with my friends!

How long have you worked at Spire, and what do you do here?
I've worked at Spire since August of 2022, primarily working the front desk and Intro to Climbing and Intro to Lead classes.

Favorite discipline of climbing?
Any and all outdoor rope climbing is where I have the most fun!

Favorite outdoor climb or area?
The climbing I've done in Unaweep and Escalante Canyons is some of my favorite!

Any goals in your climbing?
Reaching into the trad world, getting stoked on alpine rock, and meeting skiing and climbing in the middle on complex ski routes are my goals.

Besides climbing, what are your other hobbies?
Biking, eating pastries while biking, trail running, skiing, using moss to pretend I have facial hair, and all the basic Bozeman things.

Favorite movie quote?
"You so totally rocked sq**rt! Gimme sum fin! Noggin! Duuuuude.” - Finding Nemo

Do people drink or eat soup? Discuss.
It depends. I utilize a spoon with the chunky stuff but you’ll definitely see me sipping smooth stuff like butternut squash soup. Mmmmm.

Next time you're in Spire, make sure to say hey to Eddie and give him some fin! Or some soup...

The celebration of this radiant human continues today, six years following her passing. Inge Perkins was an alumnus of both the Bozeman Climbing and Junior Mountaineering Teams. A beloved member of our community, Inge inspired many people of all ages with her quiet excellence in climbing, running, and skiing. She cared deeply for her family, friends, and fellow humans and exemplified a beautiful balance between personal pursuits and community engagement.

The Inge Perkins Scholarship (IPS) honors Inge’s life by supporting youth in Bozeman who are pursuing their own excellence in sports. With both Bozeman Climbing Team and Junior Mountaineering Team scholarships, as well as financial support for other outdoor programs, the IPS seeks to uplift the young people in our community while celebrating the inspiration, joy, and care embodied by Inge.

Heyo! My name is Emma K. I was born and raised in Pocatello, ID where I grew up singing, dancing, and acting. It wasn’t until I joined the high school cross country team that I became a fanatic for outdoor activities.
I moved to Bozeman in the fall of 2021 to go to school at Montana State. I am studying Exercise Science, in the hope of becoming a Physical Therapist.

How long have you worked at Spire, and what do you do here?
I started working the front desk at Spire in January of 2023 which has been such a whirlwind since I started climbing, for realsies, in August 2022! I absolutely love this sport, this community, and all that I have learned so far.

Favorite discipline of climbing?
With my background as a distance runner, I love long endurance based sport climbing.

Any goals in your climbing?
To get better at ice climbing!

Besides climbing, what are your other hobbies?
Trail running is my main vice, but I love to backcountry ski, backpack, swim in alpine lakes, have dance parties in the Spire yoga studio, rollerblade, and meditate!

Any hidden talents?
I can burp the ABCs!

What's your favorite crag snack?
Leftover pizza !!!!

Is a hotdog a sandwich? Discuss.
A hot dog is a hot dog, that's why it has a unique name. There’s no way to categorize it because it is just what it is.

What's your favorite place in the world?
Tengboche Monastery in the Khumbu Valley of Nepal.

Next time you're in Spire, make sure to say hi to Emma! Maybe even challenge her to burp the ABC's!

Last week, three of our athletes from the Bozeman Climbing Team competed at the USA Youth Climbing National Championship in Salt Lake City. Chloe Ho, Wilson Whitley, and Cy McIntosh all qualified for the sport climbing championship, with Chloe and Cy making it to a finals stage reminiscent of the World Cup. Chloe and Wilson also competed in the bouldering championship, moving on with the top 20 climbers to semi-finals. To reach this level of competition takes consistent hard work, psyche, and dedication. But it also takes the support of family, team members, coaches, friends, and the community at large. Go BCT! Way to rep Bozeman!

We would like to give a special shout-out to the three Bozeman Climbing Team athletes representing Bozeman and Spire at the USA Climbing Youth Nationals championships hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah this week! We are incredibly proud of Chloe, Cy, and Wilson. Their passion, skill, and dedication have led them to this occasion and we’re so excited to watch their hard work pay off. Live streams are available on the USAC website if you want to cheer them on!

We want to take a moment and thank the volunteers who gathered with to restore Allenspur trails and trim back overgrowth. They dug out and built steps in washed out areas, improving access and creating safer approaches. More than a dozen volunteers showed up, and after a short burst of rain, the crew made quick work on several sections of the trail. And it was a ton of fun!
The next trail day will be July 26th, mark your calendars!!
