The only power thoughts have is the power we give them. ✌🏼🌊✨

Some food for thought for your Sunday evening.

2022 ✌🏼 This year is the year of stepping into my authentic self.

🙏🏼This year I will teach more yoga/breathing.

🍃This year I will become a better manager.

✌🏼I will say yes to things that light me up.

👽This year I will be a better friend, partner, sister, etc.

I’m still just happy to be here. ✌🏼🌊

Mistakes aren’t a bad thing. 🌊

Here’s a friendly reminder (and a vulnerable share) that mistakes are not horrible.

In the moment, some mistakes feel like the end of the world - I can relate to that.

Just a few years ago, I had made a mistake so huge, that it reached the point of destruction. 💥🤯

People told me that I was crazy, I felt like I had lost everyone in my life: friends, family, etc. That’s how big this mistake was.

I began to believe that there was no such thing as unconditional love outside of dogs loving us (thanks, Daisy)💕🐶

In retrospect:

I still see the severity of the act that I made.

I still feel an ache in the pit of my stomach when I think of all of the pain that I caused others (but also myself).

I see how much I have grown since then.

I see all of the joy that I have experienced since then.

I see all of the friends/community that I have gained since then.

I see that while it’s not a mistake that I’m willing to make again, it all turned out to be okay.

It turns out that it wasn’t the end of the world and that I can forgive myself.

I’m happy to be here as this version of myself. ✌🏼🌊💕

Email apnea - have you heard of it?

I’m sure you’ve experienced it; I know I have!

Here’s a description from an article from inc.com:

“Email apnea occurs for a variety of reasons. First, our posture slumps the moment we pick up our phone or computer, which compromises our ability to inhale and exhale fully. Second, after hours spent staring at our screens, our eyes get fatigued and strained, which further interrupts relaxed breathing. Finally, when we're lost in email and other online tasks, we lose awareness. We become so fixated on texts, emails, and social media posts that we don't even notice this shift in our breathing.”

“I needed to write, to express myself through written language not only so that others might hear me but so that I could hear myself.”
-Gabor Maté

Lately, I have been doing a lot of shadow work. Meaning, I’ve been revisiting trauma from my past to try to process and heal from it.

I have been avoiding things for a long time and have realized that avoidance is not helpful. 🙈

It has been interesting; depressing at times, motivating at times, and uncomfortable mostly…but it feels good to shift my perspective on some things and grow from past experiences.

Forgiveness and healing is no joke - it’s not easy. 🌊

One day I’ll share more, but for now I’ll leave it at this.

What are you avoiding and how’s that working out for you? 🤔✌🏼💕

“It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.” - Edmund Hillary

Hello, it’s me again. 🙋🏻‍♀️

I just wanted to share this quote and how it resonates with me. I’ve been doing some work to heal my inner child ✨ and this quote jumped out at me real quick!

It’s not about conquering our life or anything in it, it’s about overcoming ourselves. I love this so much and I’ll leave it at that.

Hope you all are doing well. ✌🏼🌊

You take about 25,000 breaths each day. 🤩 So, let me as you this: how often do you pay attention to how you’re breathing?

Your breath is the unbroken chain of life; with you from birth to death.

If you pay attention it can tell you a lot about how you are operating, and what you’re feeling.

Peace, pain, optimal physiological functionality, anxiety, sleep, s*x, physical performance, the shape of your face, etc. it’s all linked to your breath.

Increasing the awareness of my breath literally changed my life. 🌊 I’ll share more on how later, but for now - where is your breath originating at this moment? Your chest? Belly?

Inhale slowly and low into your belly.

Feel your ribs expand laterally.

Relax and exhale; let it all escape without force. ✌🏼🌊

Breathwork for mood management.

How do you manage yours?

Breathwork isn’t a cure-all, but it helps.

Having a solid daily practice, so that when you face times of frustration, you can keep your cool. 😌

If you have a practice to fall back on, that practice will become your response to stress and you’ll be less reactive. This is the goal. 💫

Inhale for a count of 4.
Exhale for a count of 6.

Low into your belly.
Slowly through your nose.
Deep and expansive breathing.

Today’s a new day. You get to choose better for yourself and be less reactive and more responsive. 🌊✌🏼

Truth is:

🪞I believe in transparency because I believe we can learn a lot from each other, and that we are more alike than different. Perspective is everything.

🤫I don’t practice as much as I’d like.

😰I’ve been leaning on alcohol more than I’ve been leaning into myself.

🥴my days are so busy and pass quickly and I am left feeling like I didn’t have enough time to nurture myself.

😵‍💫my anxiety has been so bad lately; I’ve been sad and angry and I don’t like that.

🥪🍟I haven’t been eating well.

🌊Everything happens in waves. I’m dedicated to change and this phase will pass soon.

🙃Starting today: I’m moving my body more.

🙏🏼💫 I’m leaning into my practice and getting away from alcohol.

✌🏼🌊🙃

Interrupting regular programming to share this pic of Leo that I drew. This is one of my favorite photos of this goof-ball. 🥰

Drawing is meditation for me, so this was even more enjoyable. 🙏🏼🌊🐶

Be like the ocean and absorb the waves.

The theme of today’s yoga class (one of the many at ) with Mary.

It takes a lot of energy to fight against the waves and there’s a lot that each one brings. Let yourself experience it all: joy, love, pain, sorrow, etc. Let yourself feel all of it and notice what happens.

Be more like the ocean…absorb the waves. 🌊✌🏼🕊
