Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Florida has implemented a new ECG/EKG heart screening requirement for student-athletes participating in high school athletics.

This requirement generally applies to:

• Incoming freshmen (Class of 2030) participating in high school athletics.

• New high school student-athletes in grades 10–12 who have not previously participated in an FHSAA-sanctioned sport.

The School District of Manatee County, in partnership with Who We Play For, is offering a convenient and affordable screening opportunity for local student-athletes on Saturday, 10/17. Sign up below!
