The morning fog lifts off the water, revealing a lineup of the region’s best anglers, but all eyes are on one boat today. We want to welcome Grant & Larry Smith and Ty Hardy to Championship Day, entering the water tied as the absolute top team of the season.
This trio has been on an absolute tear this year, racking up multiple event wins and dominating the leaderboard. If you have been paying attention to the standings, you know these guys have set the pace all year long.
Backed by Bradford Tire Center and FishUSA Pro Shop, these guys are running Grant’s pristine Ranger 622 packed with a 400 Hp Mercury Verado that gets them to the fish fast. Up front with decked-out Garmin electronics and trolling motor package is what has kept them locked into position. That advanced tech, paired with Grant’s relentless instinct and “Trust the Process” mentality, has made them an unstoppable force this year while hunting down those giant Kinzua walleyes.

Jerry and Hunter are a team you can never overlook. This Lund boat team has years of experience on the water, they know what it takes to find fish, adjust when conditions change, and put themselves in position to compete.

They’ve built a reputation for being consistently in the money, and you can never count them out. On any given day, this father-son duo has the experience and ability to come up with a big bag and make a serious move up the leaderboard. 🎣🔥

Sitting at #3 in the 2026 Team of the Year standings is a father-son duo that knows exactly what it takes to win on Kinzua…

🎣 JESSE & DYLAN NUSSBAUM 🎣

This isn’t their first championship rodeo.

🏆 REPEAT CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT WINNERS

Jesse has built a long track record of success and dominance on this body of water, with years of experience learning Kinzua and figuring out what it takes to consistently find fish.

And Dylan has been putting his own time in all across the country, spending his fishing seasons traveling the National Walleye Tour, competing against some of the best anglers in the country and bringing that experience back home to Kinzua.

But their impact goes beyond the leaderboard.

Jesse is a huge supporter of the local fishing community and makes an effort to support essentially every single fishing club event in the area. He continues to give back to the sport and community he’s been a part of for years.

Now this father-son team sits at #3 in the Team of the Year standings, with one championship event left to decide it all.

With the Willow Creek Sportsman’s Club Walleye Circuit Championship just around the corner on September 26th, it’s time to introduce the team sitting at #4 in the 2026 Team of the Year standings…

🎣 Drew Miller & DEVON NASMAN 🎣

If there’s one thing you can say about this team, it’s this:

DON’T COUNT THEM OUT.

Drew and Devon have put together a strong season with multiple solid finishes, and they’re the kind of team that can put together a big bag when everything comes together.

They spend a ton of time on Kinzua Reservoir, constantly working to find new bites, learn new water, and improve their program. They’re not satisfied with simply catching fish — they’re always looking for the next piece of the puzzle.

And that work ethic carries over off the water.

Drew is an active member of the Willow Creek Sportsman’s Club, putting in plenty of time helping plan events and working to get the next generation involved in the outdoors. He’s helping build the fishing community that these tournaments are all about.

That combination of time, preparation, persistence and passion has put this team exactly where they want to be heading into Championship Day.

The final Top 10 roster is set for the Willow Creek Sportsman’s Club Walleye Circuit Championship coming up September 26th! 🎣🔥

Coming in at #5 in the Team of the Year standings are Brian Minich & Dustin Beane!

This Ranger boat team has put together a strong and competitive season, with multiple good finishes and a very impressive past Kinzua Cup Championship win! 🏆

These guys put in the work both on and off the water. They spend plenty of time on Kinzua, staying on fish and constantly working to improve their program.

Brian also runs a charter business, Fin & Fly Adventures, giving him even more time on the water and another way to share his passion for fishing with others. 🎣

But their dedication to the Kinzua fishing community goes well beyond tournament day.

Brian and Dustin both go out of their way to get the younger generation involved in the sport we all love. They’re always willing to bring kids out, support youth events, and give the next generation an opportunity to experience the excitement of fishing.

That kind of commitment is what makes these guys stand out — not just as tournament anglers, but as members of the Kinzua fishing community.

🏆 TOP 10 TEAM OF THE YEAR SPOTLIGHT

Coming in at an impressive #6 in the Team of the Year standings are Matt Cobb & Chris Cobb!

Matt and Chris have put together a strong and consistent season, with multiple good finishes and a standout 2nd place finish at the Paul’s Trading Post Tournament on June 22nd! 🥈

These guys put in the work both on and off the water. They spend plenty of time dialing in their program and are dedicated to getting the most out of their Humminbird MEGA Live 2 setup, while chasing Kinzua walleye from their Ranger boat.

Their dedication to the Kinzua fishing community goes beyond tournament day as well. Matt and Chris put in time helping set up and manage the Kinzua Cup, while Matt also plays a major role as a Kinzua Cup tournament sponsor through Bradford Tire Center.
Matt and Chris are also deeply rooted into the Corydon Township Volunteer Fire Department serving as the Fire Chief and Captain.

🎯 Hard work. Dedication. Time on the water. Giving back to the fishing community are just a few words to describe the Cobb team
