Those of you that have followed this year Drag and Drive events we have been in, know that we’ve been struggling to keep the car cool on drives. The first Rocky Mountain Race Week we did in 2024 we had no issues with overheating. Well we’ve put bigger fans and bigger water pump on the car. Better, but not fixed.
This weekend with some help from a friend we finally realized that both of our Griffin Thermal Products radiators were cooked. When we hurt the motor last year we put over 60 psi of pressure through the cooling system. We never had a leak, but we ballooned the radiators beyond any real cooling capacity at all. Already have a call in with Griffin to get things fixed up.

This was the last pass we made at Bonne Terre Drag Strip on Sick The Magazine Sick66. We figured during the burnout, the oil pan cracked for no real apparent reason. Thankfully we run a belly pan that caught all but a few drips going down the track. We are just thankful that the only issue is a quick weld and will be ready to go again. Until next the next …..

First pass on Day 2 at Sick The Magazine Sick 66 at Bonne Terre Drag Strip we went just a little too fast
for our max ET of 5.35 with a 5.28 @136 MPH. Probably best that this wasn’t within our ET, or we would have been on the road when we ran into oil pan issues.

Not the post I wanted to make. During our second pass on Monday at Bonne Terre Drag Strip, we had a major crack appear in our oil pan. We got a little oil on the track, but kept most of it contained to the belly pan. Thankfully we had plenty of Driven Racing Oil still in the pan and never lost oil pressure. We lost most of the oil once we were back to our pit spot.
Aiden and I made the decision with some insight from friends, to call it and not try and repair the pan and continue on. With another 1200 miles ahead of us and a good bit of driving late into the nights, it was just the wise choice to cut our losses and load up.
We’ve joined back up with the others on Sick The Magazine Sick 66 and will enjoy the trip and the checkpoints.

We are all tech’ed in for Sick The Magazine Sick 66. Waiting for the rain to stop and maybe we can get a test hit in today. Otherwise things kick off at 9 AM tomorrow.
