Finding Pawpaws always feels like hitting a jackpot (especially if the possums, raccoons and turkeys haven’t gotten them all yet!)

If you’ve never had their fruit, it’s kind of like a banana, a pineapple and a mango all mixed together.

You can’t find them in the grocery store because they don’t ship well, which is all the more reason to plant some for yourself (or go hunting to see if you have a stand on your property!)

We were watching Tyler Bouldin clear out an old pear tree and all we could think was: this is how people should “prune” their Bradford Pears, Popcorn Trees and Crepe Myrtles 😝

Serviceberry trees, Crab Apples, Chickasaw Plums, Redbuds (we could go on!) - they ALL produce beautiful spring shows, none of them have stinking blooms, and they are all great for native wildlife and pollinators!

And if you need to clear out some invasives and replace with something much, much better? Give us a call! We’d be glad to help!

Getting lots of questions about whether we have gift certificates: YES!

(and the dads in your life will probably appreciate a WHR Gift Certificate more than another bad tie this Sunday 😅)

Give us a call, or email us ([email protected]) and we can get you squared away!

Drop your guesses!!!

This is a Jiro persimmon just starting to set fruit.
And unlike the native persimmons (where you need to wait for them to be super soft and almost falling off the tree before they're sweet), Jiro are non-astringent. So you can eat them when they're still firm and crisp!
They're one of our favorites for home or wildlife orchards - and it turns out they're pretty photogenic, too

There’s nothing we love more than getting eyeballs on a property, listening to your goals, and then hunting out the opportunities to make them happen!

That’s exactly what happened with this drain. We saw a natural travel corridor and the perfect place to plant it slap full of native persimmons.

Once these start producing, it’ll be an absolutely INCREDIBLE early season buffet.

If you’re in Yazoo & Holmes counties and your deer go missing in September... well, we might know where they went. 🤭🦌

Never not singing the praises of Chickasaw Plums around here - they’re multipurpose, hardy as heck… and beat the brakes off those stinky Bradford pears 😅

Do you need hedging or privacy screening? Need habitat for wildlife? Need erosion control alongside a gully? Want to feed your deer? Your pollinators? Yourself?

All this and more, provided from a single native species that absolutely thrives with low maintenance! 🙌

Meet Hazelnut! 🐾🌰🥰

She’s a little labradoodle pup that’s already learning her way around the nursery (just need to teach her how to w**d, and we’d REALLY be set! 🤣)

Here’s to the many adventures ahead with Hazel (and, of course, our veteran Site Supervisor Pup, Tikka!)

now THAT’S a blueberry harvest 🤩🤩🤩

and these blueberry shrubs have only been in the ground a few years! 🙌

One of our customers, Karen, sent over some snaps of how she was processing her bumper crop of blueberries (and now we’re gonna need one of those blueberry popsicles to help beat this heat! 😋)

We’ve still got some Tiff Blue, Climax, and Premier Blueberries (in 3-gallon size, and in 1 gallon size), plus Navaho and Arapaho thornless Blackberries - order online or give us a call to get yours!

When this Chinese Chestnut was planted out in 2024, it was just a few inches taller than the four foot grow tube… and now, just look at all that growth!!

Thanks so much to TJ for sending us these growth update photos - there’s nothing we love more than seeing our trees thrive on your properties!

If you’re looking for a great hard mast food source for wildlife, that will produce within 4-7 years (sometimes a little sooner for the overachievers!) - give us a shout!
