Let’s go 2027!!!! Gus Gus 🩵 has my 🫶 and I am so excited and happy to see him out in the arena! He is so full of personality and s***k.

A year ago we weren’t sure if his performance career was over. Now he is out here doing the thing!!! Thank you to everyone involved in his rehab. Especially Brina McAmis for her relentless care and constant support 🙏🩵 I can’t wait for next year! 5 more months!!

Why Are Finished Horses So Expensive?

Everyone sees the price tag on a finished horse. Few people understand what it takes to get there. A finished horse isn’t just paying for the horse, but paying for years of investment, education, and experience.

Thousands of training rides. Hundreds of hours spent hauling to lessons, jackpots, rodeos, and exhibitions. Entry fees, stall fees, fuel, hotels, and memberships. Countless miles on and tied to the trailer. Vet bills, chiropractic care, maintenance, and preventative care. Trying different bits, saddles, shoes, supplements, and feeding programs to find what works best. The setbacks, injuries, and days when nothing goes according to plan. The time spent building confidence, consistency, and trust.

For every horse that makes a winning run, there were years of trial and error behind the scenes. Trainers and owners invest enormous amounts of time, money, and heart before a horse ever becomes “finished.” When you buy a finished horse, you’re not just buying the horse you’re sitting on today, but the years of work, knowledge, and resources that created that horse.

A finished horse may seem expensive at first, until you realize it’s often cheaper and less time consuming than trying to develop one from scratch. If you need that finished horse now, be ready to pony up some big bucks that have been well earned! 💪

May Monthly Spending Recap as a 25 year old running a horse training business! 🤠💪

06/10/2026

Social media has made incredibly easy to compare our everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel. We scroll through photos of happy moments, beautiful horses, successful businesses, winning runs, awesome vacations, and impressive milestones, forgetting that what we see is a small fraction of the story. Behind every success is a journey that most people never post about: the sacrifices, disappointments, financial struggles, long nights, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty. Social media rarely shows the complete picture, and making assumptions about someone’s life based on a few posts is unfair and damaging.

Instead of spending time wondering why someone else has what we don’t, we should be focused on running our own race. Every person is on a different timeline, facing different challenges, or working toward different goals. Comparison creates distractions and jealousy creates bitterness. Neither helps us move forward. Energy spent being envious of someone else’s success is far better invested in improving ourselves, pursuing our goals, and building the life we want. Success is not a limited resource, and someone else’s accomplishments do not take away from your opportunity to achieve your own. Cheer for others, stay focused on your lane, and trust the process. 💪🤠🩵

Being a good businesswoman in the horse industry is about so much more than winning, selling the most expensive horses, or growing a following. It’s about building a reputation that people can trust. Every conversation, commitment, and business decision reflects who you are and what you stand for. Clients may come for your knowledge and expertise, but they stay because of your professionalism, honesty, and consistency.

Doing good business means treating people fairly, communicating clearly, and always following through on your word. You must value your time and experience while also respecting the investment your clients are making. In an industry where reputation travels fast, integrity will always be worth more than shortcuts.

The most successful women in the horse world understand that long-term success is built on relationships, not transactions. They support others, lead with confidence, and create an environment where both people and horses can thrive. Don’t get greedy, don’t cut corners to make a sale, don’t pretend you know an answer that you don’t actually have. At the end of the day, your character is just as important as your accomplishments, and doing business the right way will always set you apart.🩵

This past weekend we had 3 girls enter their very first competition at the El Rodeo Gymkhana! It’s amazing to have such a great place to showcase these girls’ hard work at our home base!

We had an amazing time learning and being exposed to a competition environment! Lia on Fred and Camellia on Breeze both ended up ribboning on their favorite horses in their event! And Autumn on Candy had a blast being able to join in the fun! Here comes the next generation of barrel racers; watch out world!!!

Open arena isn’t just a time to get your horse used to the pen, it’s also a time to have all your friends in one place. 🩵🐎 At PB Performance Horses, we strive to go the extra mile, which may mean showing up to an open arena at 9 PM at night. 🤣 Luckily it’s more fun when your teammates are there, too!

It’s easy in this sport to forget why we started. We get caught up in the placings, the points, the standings, the social media posts, and what everyone else is doing. We put so much pressure on ourselves and our horses to perform that we lose sight of the reason we saddled up in the first place. Barrel racing is supposed to be fun. It’s supposed to challenge you, inspire you, and make you excited to load up and head to the next event. Of course there will be difficult days, disappointing runs, and goals that take longer to reach than we expected, but if the entire experience has become something you dread or become anxious about rather than look forward to, it’s worth asking yourself why you’re doing it.

Reality is that life is too short and our time with these horses is too valuable to spend it chasing someone else’s definition of success. Winning is exciting, but the true reward is the journey. The partnership you build with your horse, the lessons learned along the way, and the memories made both in and out of the arena are the point. If your heart isn’t in it, if you’re no longer enjoying the process, and if the thought of competing doesn’t light a fire inside you, then maybe it’s time to make a change. And that’s okay! Because when you’re doing something you genuinely love, there shouldn’t be any doubt. If it’s not a HELL YES, it’s a HELL NO. (This also goes for deciding what races to attend!!!)

We are SO PROUD of our riders at the El Rodeo Gymkhanas this season! 💪🩵 Each year brings new challenges and opportunities. Our team conquered all of them with grace and humility.

Kaitlyn and Sundance had a great year that ended with a bang at our last gymkhana yesterday! She was year end Reserve 2D Champion and won the 2D Champion title for the day! 🥳🩵 We are so proud of Kaitlyn for continuing through hardships and always keeping her bubbly personality and smiling face. It isn’t easy, but it is worth it. Congratulations 🥳🎉

WOW, truly what a weekend last weekend! We definitely needed some time to decompress after 5 days in Las Vegas. 😅🎰

So much growth from every team entered. We were fortunate enough to have 14 students and horses combination attend! While not everyone had their runs they wanted in the arena, they all had some large learning curves. From learning how to give shots, cleaning stalls properly, timing warm ups right, and so much more, these kids develop responsibilities and life skills that will set them up for future schooling, careers, and opportunities!

Special shoutout to and Rumor for winning the 5D saddle. She works so hard and is so deserving of this win! 🩵

We cannot wait until Firecracker race in July! 🥳
