JENNIFER MATISON NAMED POWER SKATING COACH

The organization is excited to announce Jennifer Matison as our new Power Skating Coach, bringing more than 20 years of competitive skating experience and a deep technical understanding of skating mechanics to our player-development program.

Jennifer began competing at just five years old and continues to compete today. Her background includes Regional-level Singles competition as well as Regional and Junior National-level Ice Dance, giving her extensive experience in edge work, balance, body control, power, and technical skating.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and combines her analytical background with decades of on-ice experience. As a private and group instructor, Jennifer specializes in jump and spin technique, power development, artistic choreography, and overall skating mechanics. She has also held leadership roles as a Director for USFSA Aspire, Junior Synchronized Skating, and Adult Synchronized Skating programs.

Her work with hockey players focuses specifically on the details that translate directly to the game: edge control, stride efficiency, acceleration, explosive agility, balance, and power.

“Jennifer brings a different level of technical skating knowledge to our program. We want our players becoming stronger, faster, and more efficient skaters, and having someone with her background working directly with them is another major investment in player development.”

Jennifer will work with players throughout the season to improve skating mechanics, power, efficiency, and overall on-ice performance.

The Bremerton Sockeyes are looking for caring local families to join the team by becoming billet, or host, families for the 2026-27 USPHL Premier season.
Host families play a vital role by providing a safe, supportive home away from home for players pursuing their junior hockey dreams. In appreciation, host families receive $500 per month, per player.

"Billet families are the backbone of junior hockey," said General Manager Chad Olson. "The relationships built between our players and host families often last a lifetime, and we couldn't do what we do without the incredible support of our community."

BREMERTON SOCKEYES ANNOUNCE CROSS BORDER CUP
January 8-11, 2027

The Bremerton Sockeyes are proud to announce the inaugural Cross Border Cup, an international junior hockey showcase set to take place January 8-11, 2027, at the Bremerton Ice Center in Bremerton, Washington.

The showcase will feature four premier junior hockey programs from both the United States and Canada and will be scout

- Bremerton Sockeyes (Bremerton, Washington)
- Rogue Valley Royals (Medford, Oregon)
- Calgary Bandits (Calgary, Alberta)
- Hinton Timberwolves (Hinton, Alberta)

The Cross Border Cup will bring together top junior hockey talent from both sides of the border for four days of elite competition, player development, and community engagement. Fans can expect fast-paced hockey, intense rivalries, and a unique international atmosphere as Canadian and American clubs battle for Cross Border Cup supremacy.

"This event is about more than hockey," said Bremerton Sockeyes General Manager Chad Olson. "It's an opportunity to strengthen relationships between organizations, provide our players with high-level competition, and showcase Bremerton as a destination for junior hockey. We're excited to welcome the Calgary Bandits, Hinton Timberwolves, and Rogue Valley Royals to our city for what we believe will become a premier annual event."

The tournament will feature multiple games throughout the weekend, culminating with the presentation of the inaugural Cross Border Cup championship trophy.

Harp returns as a key piece between the pipes after showing consistency, composure, and a competitive edge that helped set the tone for the team last year. Known for his work ethic and ability to rise in big moments, he continues to be a reliable presence in net and in the locker room.
