We're back with another Sustainable Sunday! 🌿

For our second Sustainable Sunday, we’re taking a closer look at one of Brentwood Park’s most unique sustainability features: the Water Reclamation Silo.

Did you know water from the splash pad is captured and retained in the large metal silo near the splash pad? That water is then reused through the park’s irrigation system, helping keep the park’s plants green while reducing water waste.

Even more impressive, the system is estimated to reclaim about 200,000 gallons of water each week — nearly 4 million gallons a year!

The splash pad itself was inspired by the creeks that run through Brentwood, including Black Creek and Deer Creek, making water conservation an especially fitting part of the park’s design.

🏓 Pickleball, but make it a little more challenging!

Grab your teammate and get ready for a tournament with a twist. Players must hold a can in one hand and a paddle in the other throughout each match. It’s pickleball meets multitasking, with plenty of skill, strategy and fun!

Tournament Format:
• 4 guaranteed games
• 3 round-robin games
• All teams advance to a single-elimination tournament

Spots are limited, so don’t wait! Register your team by September 18 to save your spot.

Today, we pause to honor and remember.

On this Patriot Day, we reflect on the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who answered the call in our nation’s darkest hours.

We encourage our community to join us in a moment of silence and to carry forward the spirit of unity, resilience, and service that emerged on that day.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Goatscaping is a great solution for improving biodiversity and restoring native plants. Benefits to improving the natural ecosystem can include prevention of erosion, increased oxygen production, carbon dioxide reduction, increased pollination, and more. Who knew that improving sustainability and biodiversity could be so cute? 🌿🍃

One more weekend until Brentwood Days! 🎡🎠

Mark your calendars for September 18th and 19th for our annual festival at the Brentwood Sports Complex (9100 Russell Ave).

Brentwood Days is free to attend; however, carnival rides will require either tickets or wristbands to access. Brentwood residents, as well as Brentwood School District and St. Mary Magdalen students and employees, are eligible to pre-purchase wristbands at the Brentwood Community Center from now through Brentwood Days.

For adults attending Brentwood Days, not only is our Adult Area W**e & B**r Garden returning, we're hosting a few extra special activities! Join us Friday, September 18th for a themed Cocktail Competition and Saturday, September 19th for Route 66 trivia. For more information or to pre-register for these activities, click the link below.

🐐 The goats are BACK! As part of Sustainable September, our four-legged landscapers are returning to Memorial Park to help us tackle some eco-friendly landscaping!

The goats will arrive Thursday, September 10, in Memorial Park between 8:00–10:00 AM and will stay for a couple of weeks, naturally clearing vegetation and helping us maintain the park in a sustainable way.

If you spot them during your visit, be sure to say hello and watch them put their appetite to work! 🌿🐐
