American Karate Academy

This week marked the 45th anniversary of Master Chapman beginning his martial arts journey.

Everyone starts out at the same point: the white belt. No one can possibly know the path that leads you forward, and yet thousands of classes and hundreds upon hundreds of students later, that former white belt has achieved the highest rank of black belt one can, gone on to create a unique martial arts style, and has created a second home and family for his longtime students.

Join us in congratulating Master Chapman on another year in the martial arts.

This week, Master Chapman traveled to California to do some training up in the mountains with Master Burk and others from Traditional American Karate.

UPDATE: The YMCA is closing down due to the flooding, so all classes are cancelled.

The YMCA parking lot is flooded. Brentwood police are turning people away from the regular lot, so many are parking at the church next door. Be safe driving and do not drive through deep water.

Class is still happening as long as the YMCA remains open.

Reminder for all students that classes are cancelled on Saturday, July 4.

Another Karate College is in the books. While some got to reminisce about Karate Colleges of years gone by, others got to experience their very first. One thing is for sure, good training and good fellowship were had by all.

This weekend was the annual staff retreat for the American Karate Academy. The senior instructors led the classes, which ranged from learning about using sai's, how to teach sparring, new katas, multiple attackers, and more. Days like these are what keep us sharp and helps to keep everyone on the same page as far as teaching standards.

Reminder to all students that classes are cancelled today. The instructors are attending their annual staff retreat. Regular classes will resume on Tuesday.

Congratulations to Thamizh for achieving the rank of Black Belt! This is a huge accomplishment, that few achieve, so well done!

This past Thursday was the annual school demonstration at Brentwood. All of the students did a great job.
