Love the flashlight mindset for a good feel for having tight turns in the swing! Something I remember Alex Bregman talking about one day.

Sometimes the best cage talk is not about baseball at all.

When your mind drifts, your body shows what it knows. That’s second nature — the reps taking over when you don’t have to think about it.

Slow down between swings. 🧠⏱️
Every rep tells you something. What worked, what didn’t. Take the extra second. Breathe. Reset. Then lock in for the next 3-5 seconds before the pitch comes.
That gap between swings is where the real work happens.

Some days it’s about staying inside the ball no matter what — sometimes that means letting it rip, sometimes it means backing off and feeling it. Hard swings, soft swings, ugly reps included. Not every session is your best work, and that’s the point. You’re building the feel, not chasing perfection. Trust the process, stay inside the ball⚾

Swing thoughts & swing feels

Just a couple good thoughts to keep in mind when you’re in the cage and you naturally over rotate in the swing. These are some thoughts I have to keep myself more directional towards the center of the field.

Choosing the right bat isn’t about the biggest barrel, it’s about the right balance. Where the weight lives in the bat and how comfortable it feels in your swing matters more than which one has “more pop”.

Such a great example of bat path coming right off the shoulder and into the swing.

I also want to point out how Eldridge pulls his hands in on what looks like an inside pitch to catch barrel. If he doesn’t do that on this particular swing, that would have been a broken bat. He doesn’t a great job of pulling the hands in, almost gets jammed, he doesn’t. And catches pure barrel.

That’s elite.
