“My name is Kevin Crawford I'm 37 years old. I grew up on the west side of Bridgeport since 3 year's old and sports was my life until I had my 2 sons- now they are my life!!
•
•
Its such a blessing for me to play with my sons and see the hard work pay off- from me training them when they was younger and look we 2 times champs of this cool 3 on 3 tournament.
•
•
This is something very special to me as being their father and winning it again on 6/22- my father’s birthday that passed away like 20 years ago. Never had a chance to meet or see his son and grandchildren put in work on the court, so this year’s championship was very special for that reason.

Teamcrawford is very grateful for the game of basketball, I can go on and on...it's just a blessings to play with my kids and play well so thankful”
Kevin Crawford, 37, 2x City 3v3 Champ

“The game of basketball has always been around me growing up in Brooklyn, New York. I started off as a football player and completely ignored basketball until I was 10. Then I finally let the influence of the game and my friends sink in and I gave the game a try. •
•
Growing up I always played with older kids and I was usually the youngest on a team. Being the smallest built me to be a competitor because I always wanted to show that I was just at good as everyone else. Now me playing in middle school in Connecticut has changed my spirit. I wanna show that I’m the best. But to do that I have to put the work in and that is what I’ll be spending my summer time doing. •
•
My future goals in basketball is to become the best basketball player I can be and play basketball at the highest level there is; The NBA.”

“I always loved playing basketball ever since I was about little. Just seeing myself progress in small areas always motivates me to keep going. Also just imagining myself doing things that the stars do. Even though I do not want to pursue basketball as a career I would like to use it as a tool in life such as just staying in shape, meeting new people and networking. Not to mention playing basketball teaches many life lessons.”
T’Zaih Hanks, 19 years old, University of Bridgeport

THE REFEREE
•
•
Anyone who has played basketball has broken the rules, either intentionally or unintentionally. Whether it was accidentally stepping out of bounds, or slapping someone on a layup- we’ve ALL broken these rules.
•
•
When we break the rules in a game there is a consequence. All have broken God’s laws as well- and the penalty is eternal separation from God because of our sin.
•
•
But because God loves us and wants a relationship with us, our problem of sin had to be dealt with so we will not be separated from him. The penalty had to be paid.
•
•
The GOOD NEWS of the gospel is that it was! Jesus bore our sins in his body on the cross and died for the sins of you and I. If we put our faith in him, we will be saved. The gospel is that we are more sinful and flawed than we ever dared believe, yet at the same time more LOVED AND ACCEPTED than we ever dared hope. 🙏 ✝️🙏

“Hi, my name is Elijah Newby, I’m fourteen years old. I’m going to the 9th grade and I will be attending Bullard Heavens Technical high school this year. •
•
The reason I still play basketball is because I see a lot of young children dying from gang related issues just because they have nothing to do or they just be bored- I can’t end up like that. I also seen very successful people make it out of Bridgeport by play basketball for example Weasley Matthews and many more. That’s why I play basketball ! •
•
Something that motivates me is coming home from playing basketball and seeing my mom at the kitchen table crying because she doesn’t have enough money to pay the bills. That’s what motivates me. And anyone that knows my mom would tell you she’s always smiling but when she comes home she’s not trust me. •
•
I want to get to the NBA and with hard and dedication I will get there. Any other goal I have is to move my family and my grandparents out of Connecticut for good. NOW Y’ALL KNOW MY STORY!🙏🏾👋🏾”
