New Jersey State Black Belt Association, Bridgeton Dojo

Today, NJSBBA, Bridgeton Dojo Karate is owned by Master Lee, 6th Degree Black Belt, and Steven Massari. Our martial arts school continues to teach the original system developed by Grand Master and former Bridgeton High School teacher, Joseph Artesi, under the license of New Jersey State Black Belt Association (NJSBBA), focusing on the practice of Goju Ryu Karate Do.

Along with Master Lee's guidance and 3rd Degree Black Belt instructors, Evin and Emilee Williams, we provide instruction of students starting at 6 years-old and up. Students are instructed on a curriculum established by Grand Master Artesi that aligns with his many years of personal instruction. Your 1st class with us is free before making a financial commitment, so come in and experience what it is like to be a student at M&M Karate. Once enrolled, you will be required to attend 2, one-hour classes/week consisting of 30 minutes of exercise/stretching and 30 minutes of targeted instruction in a group setting. *All students will receive a free uniform upon enrolling.

When demonstration of sufficient knowledge and skills are obtained, students will advance at their own pace to the next level/belt color. EVERYONE starts as a white belt in our school. If the student is committed to the art and has an authentic desire for advancement, a Black Belt can be obtained in several years. Our Dojo does NOT have a rapid-advancement policy, but rather will advance only after they can properly demonstrate all required techniques. Self-defense techniques are also stressed in our program. Self-defense is practiced with actual, contact sparring while wearing protective, foam gear in a guided, controlled situation. When students attain a more advanced rank, they will begin to learn/train with original Okinawan weapons, starting with the traditional Ratan Bo Staff.

Weapons and open-hand self defense are stressed for defense purposes only, NOT for an offensive aggression. The first rule of of the Dojo is: Karate should ONLY be used for self defense. The second rule of the Dojo is: Always follow Rule #1.

If you or a family member are interested in Karate, you are welcome to come inside and watch a class. Our classes our held on both Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. You may ask questions and inquire further after the completion of class.
