ACSM just released its first resistance‑training update in 17 years — and guess what? It backs up what we preach every day. Train with intention. Fuel with purpose. Recover like it matters.

Three big takeaways from the new ACSM guidelines:

• Heavier loads (≥80% 1RM) deliver the strongest strength gains, especially when paired with full range of motion and 2–3 sets per exercise.

• Muscle growth thrives on higher weekly volume (10+ sets per muscle group) and gets an extra boost from eccentric‑focused work.

• There’s no single “perfect” program — ACSM confirms multiple training styles (free weights, machines, bands, circuits) can build strength and size when applied consistently.

At Legacy Fitness we stand behind the current recommendations for training and will continue to utilize the research to guide our programming, whether you are training in our group classes, Semi-Private sessions, or 1:1 with our trainers 💪🏼

Today’s HYROX class was a Power Workout where members showed up, pushed hard, and encouraged their partner to finish strong!

At Legacy, we run all 4 types of HYROX workouts and formats:

✔️Foundational — Build your base: clean movement, steady engine, solid technique.

✔️Power — Heavy, explosive, high force. Sled energy.

✔️Complete — Full HYROX flow: runs + stations + pacing under fatigue.

✔️Engine — Long intervals + sustained output
