It’s easy to yell when a call doesn’t go our way.

We expect the whistle to be perfect.
The strike zone to be exact.
The refs to see everything from every angle.

But sometimes I think we forget the ones wearing stripes and all our expectations…are human.

Just like we don’t expect our kids to make every layup or finish the season without a single strikeout, we shouldn’t expect perfection from officials either.

Don be fooled—they strive for it.

They study rulebooks after school or work.
They watch film.
They practice signals in bathroom mirrors.
They text each other questions and offer feedback.
They have Facebook groups where they analyze everything.
They build their own sort of team as they log miles and games and memories.

None of it is for attention, or because they have some superiority complex.

They do it because once upon a time, they fell in love with a game too.

This is how they give back.

So the next time you’re sitting in the bleachers or pacing the sidelines, try a little gratitude in place of grumbling.

Sports don’t happen without them.
Neither does character.

And it just never hurts to be kind.🤎

🏀 Playoff & Postseason Tournament games are now posted!

If you’re not seeing your games yet, please refresh the app — many notifications have already gone out.

Best of luck to all of our teams, from Kindergarten through High School, as postseason play gets underway. We love seeing the growth, effort, and excitement this time of year brings.

And just a gentle sportsmanship reminder — this is about the kids. Let’s all continue to model positive support, respect, and great sportsmanship as they compete in the coming weeks.

Postseason scheduling update 🏀
• All scores and standings are finalized.
• We are reviewing team declarations to finalize postseason pools and brackets.
• We will then begin assigning game times/locations, and the full schedule will be released as soon as possible — no later than Tuesday afternoon.

Parents — please direct questions to your coaches first. Coaches will coordinate with club leadership, and club directors receive regular league updates. During this busy scheduling window, responses from the league office may be delayed, so your club director is the best resource right now.

Best of luck to all teams continuing their season — exciting weeks ahead!

Post season information

As our regular season wraps up, here’s a quick look at what postseason play looks like in INBC.

To give as many teams as possible the opportunity to finish their season as planned, INBC will host two Championship Days this year:
• February 28 – Championships for smaller Playoff (PO) and Postseason Tournament (PST) brackets
• March 7 – Championships for larger brackets

INBC offers two postseason options:

Playoffs (PO) - The top two teams in each pool qualify for Playoffs. In divisions with two pools, the top three teams advance. In divisions with one pool, the top four teams advance. Playoffs are a no-cost, single-elimination tournament and an extension of the regular season.

Postseason Tournament (PST) - An optional, paid tournament for teams that do not qualify for Playoffs. PST features a three-game guarantee with pool play followed by bracket play.

As a reminder, standings are based only on games played within your pool. Cross-pool games do not count toward standings, and point differential is capped at eight points per game.

Thanks for your flexibility as we work to make the postseason a great experience for our teams.

❄️ January in Oklahoma means weather watching!

At this time, all games are on as scheduled. We’ll continue to monitor conditions and take things one day at a time. Every effort will be made to make any weather decisions by 3 pm on weekdays and by 6 am on Saturday, or earlier if possible.

Please note
• We cover a broad geographic area, and individual sites may cancel if local conditions are unsafe
• The league may cancel an entire day only in cases of widespread, extreme weather impacting multiple clubs

Any schedule changes will be shared in the app and with club directors. Parents and fans should be sure to follow their team in the app and check notification settings so updates aren’t missed.

Thanks for your patience and flexibility as we navigate everchanging Oklahoma winter weather!
