Angel Anerjo and his wife, Leslie, fished with me on his 25th birthday last Friday the 26th. I’m just now getting around to post, but Happy Birthday, Angel, I hope you had a great 25th fishing with me! Angel had 2 big hybrid striped bass as well as many other species of fish to make him a big fish fry. It’s experiences like these that make me love what I do on the prettiest lake in Oklahoma! If you’d like to book for July, reach out and get your trip on the books!

Sean Howard and his father Glen fished with me today and the pictures are courtesy of them. I don’t take a lot of pictures of myself, but he captured this one of me at sunrise. I really enjoy meeting all of the wonderful and interesting people in this job that I’m blessed to be doing. I appreciate all of my new and repeat clients! If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. If anyone is interested, I still have Thursday and Friday morning available before the lake gets inundated with the holiday traffic. I still have some open dates the rest of July, but they are filling up fast, so get with me soon if you’d like to take a trip!

After a morning of guiding, I had a get together with the former Men’s basketball head coach at Carl Albert State College and the current head coach of the Harding University Women’s basketball program, Tim Kirby. My teammates pictured are Justin Sylvester and Emil Dill. You might not can tell by this picture, but this was quite the formidable front line for the Carl Albert State Vikings back in ‘91-‘92!
We are trying to make this a yearly get together for the men’s and women’s program from ‘91-‘93, so if you’re interested in attending next year, reach out to one of us!

I haven’t made many posts lately as the last couple of weeks have been a bit trying. I have ran several guide trips with a few days off to attend my favorite great uncle’s funeral, Arnold Ray Archey. With the unexpected water level changes I had a couple of tougher days fishing, but as of today it is beginning to improve. Different species are being caught on my trips, so if you’re looking for a trip this summer, I have a few open dates left in June and several left in July.

Today I had the pleasure of taking the son of a high school friend and his friend out on the water. Bradyn McGowen and Jake Baker are 2 fine young men with bright futures ahead of them. Bradyn is headed to play football in Indiana at Valparaiso University and Jake is going to play at Northwestern in Alva, OK. We had a great day on the water and they made my job easy, both were accomplished fishermen. We caught 5 species of fish on this trip. Congratulations to both of these young men and I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. When they become collegiate football stars, I hope they remember me and come back to fish with me again! 😁
I still have a few open days in June and July if you’d like to book a trip!

Today was a blessed day with repeat clients, Jim Baldwin and his wife Donna, from Garland, Tx. The goal for the day was to catch enough fish for a fish fry for the First Baptist Church of Garland to share with their Saturday night prayer team. As you can see, we were able to accomplish the goal as well as feed some more members. It was another enjoyable day on beautiful Broken Bow Lake!

Today, Dillon (in tan) and Bryce (in blue) kicked off Dillion’s bachelor party weekend with a fishing trip! He will be getting married to Ragan at the end of May. Congratulations to the couple! Bryce (the client) put together this action packed weekend for the group. A special thanks to Scott Hayes Guide Service for taking the other 3 members of the party.
I have a couple of dates left in May and a few in June if you’d like to get in on the action!

I had another father/son duo today, Joseph and Brian White. Joseph was a little older than the young guy I had yesterday, and he is rocking his mullet! 😂 Some clients do choose to keep fish at the end of the day. This is a part of guiding that isn’t discussed or shown a lot. This is where responsible guiding comes into play and we need to focus on size and limits so we don’t hurt the future spawns. You have to release larger females, however, by taking out some of the smaller fish, it helps protect the future population and growth. The post spawn bite is in full swing right now and we are catching multiple species on top waters and swim baits.
If you’d like to book a trip, I only have the 21st and 22nd of May open and a few scattered dates in June if you’d like to get in on this post-spawn action!

Yesterday was a proud day for this young man’s dad, Marco Cefalo, and for me as a guide. Marco has fished with me for the last 11 years. His son, Rhett Cefalo, is 9. Rhett joined us on our trip yesterday for his first multi-species fishing trip out of a bass boat. Rhett did an awesome job of catching, handling, and releasing most of the fish we caught, including smallmouth, largemouth, spotted, and white bass as well as a bonus walleye and crappie. In total, we boated over 50 fish and had an excellent day as father and guide teaching the next generation of young anglers. Being a part of an experience like this, with clients like the Cefalo’s, make all of the long days and hard work worth it as a guide!
I still have some dates open in June if you’re looking for a guide!

Great day on the water today with brothers Jason and Ronnie Short! We caught all 3 species of bass, largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted. Congrats to Jason on catching his personal best largemouth bass weighing in at 8.7 lbs! Jason has fished with me for the past 7 years. This one helps heal the wound from Monday when my longest tenured client of 27 years lost one at the boat this big or bigger.
I only have a few days left open in April and May is filling up fast. If you’d like to get a trip scheduled, please get with me asap!
