Did you notice the new addition? 🐐

Hint: we got a new goat. 😍

His name is Theo and he is so sweet. Finn and him are already enjoying playing together and honestly it's the cutest thing. 🐐🐐

Willow, our smallest, is the best little nanny goat to the big boys. She has no idea how tiny she is. 😄

And Romeo? Romeo loves his goats. Always has. 🐴🐐💚

Theo is already a star and he just got here. Welcome to Brighter Pastures, little guy. You're going to love it here. 🥰

A child client drew hopscotch in the barn recently and I cannot stop smiling about it. 😍

Here’s why I love it so much.

Hopscotch isn’t just a game. It turns out it’s actually really good for riders. And for all of us.

Here’s what hopscotch quietly builds:

🐴 Balance and coordination. Landing on one foot, shifting weight, staying steady. These are the exact same skills we work on in the saddle. Every hop is practice.

🧠 Body awareness. Hopscotch asks you to know where your body is in space. To feel your feet. To stay centered. Sound familiar? That’s exactly what we ask of riders.

🌿 Bilateral coordination. Moving from two feet to one foot and back again engages both sides of the brain and body working together. This kind of cross-body movement supports focus, learning, and regulation.

💚 Nervous system regulation. Rhythmic, repetitive movement is one of the most natural ways to regulate the nervous system. The pattern. The counting. The landing. All of it sends a calming signal to the brain.

😄 Pure joy. Sometimes the most therapeutic thing in the world is a child drawing squares on the barn floor and jumping through them with the adults joining in on the fun!

This is what we love about this place. The healing and the learning don’t always look like what you expect.

Sometimes it looks like hopscotch. 💚

Some weeks feel clear. You know what you want, you know what you’re doing, and you show up ready.

Other weeks you’re just hoping to find your footing somewhere along the way.

Both are okay.

Maybe that’s enough for today.

Start where you are. The rest has a way of following. 💚

Have a beautiful week.

Something shifts in September.

The mornings are just a little cooler. The light is just a little softer. The horses seem to know something is changing.

And so do we.

Fall is coming. And with it, a new season of lessons, sessions, and all the good things that happen when people and horses find their way to each other.

We can’t wait for what this season brings. 💚

Happy Saturday from the whole herd. 🐴

Fun Fact Friday! 🐴✨

If you’ve ever seen a horse yawn, that dramatic, wide-mouthed, teeth-baring stretch, you might have assumed they were just sleepy.

But in horses, yawning is rarely about tiredness.

Here’s what it actually means:

🐴 Stress release. Horses often yawn after a tense or activating experience as a way of releasing built-up tension. It’s the nervous system decompressing. Think of it as a full-body exhale.

🐴 Gastric discomfort. Yawning in horses can sometimes signal stomach discomfort or ulcers. If a horse yawns frequently, it’s worth paying attention to.

🐴 Social communication. Horses sometimes yawn in the presence of other horses or humans as a form of appeasement. A way of saying — I’m not a threat. Everything is okay here.

🐴 Post-bodywork release. Horses often yawn during or after massage, chiropractic work, or stretching. It signals that something has released in the body and the nervous system is responding.

So the next time your horse yawns right after a session, that’s actually a really good sign.

Their nervous system just found a little more room to breathe. 💚

Happy Friday from the herd! 🐴

September 1st. A new month. And apparently, officially, Ginger Cat Appreciation Day. 🐱🧡

We happen to have not one but two ginger residents who deserve a moment today.

First, Morris. Long haired. Golden. Completely unbothered. The self-appointed greeter of every person who walks through our gate. He doesn’t ask much. A scratch behind the ears. A warm lap. The occasional acknowledgment that he is, in fact, the most important resident on this property.

And then there’s Peaches.

Where Morris demands the spotlight, Peaches prefers the quiet corners. You might find her tucked in the arena, or perched impossibly on the barn roof, watching everything with calm, curious eyes. She’ll greet you with the sweetest little trill of a meow you’ve ever heard.

Two ginger souls. Two very different personalities. Both completely at home here.

Happy Ginger Cat Appreciation Day and Happy September from Morris, Peaches, and the whole Brighter Pastures crew.
🐱🧡💚

Here we are. The last day of August.

Take a moment today to look back at how far you’ve come. What you navigated. What you learned. What surprised you. What challenged you and what carried you through.

And then take a breath.

Because tomorrow is September. A brand new month. A fresh start. A chance to step into the next season with a little more intention, a little more clarity, and everything you learned from the one before.

We’re ready. Are you? 💚

Have a beautiful week.
