Nalo Gandy named USATF New York’s Athlete of the Year for the 13–14 Boys Division Track & Field Association.

He’s put in the work, day in and day out, and it showed all year. This is the kind of result you build through consistency, focus, and intentional performance training.

Proud of the dedication. This one’s well earned 🏅

Most kids don’t quit sports because they can’t keep up. They quit because it stops being fun.

If the goal is to help them stay in it, and get all the benefits that come with it, enjoyment has to be part of the process.

Here are a few ways to keep that at the center:

1. Make it fun
Development matters, but if every session feels like pressure, kids burn out. The best environments mix in games, competition, and variety so training feels like something they want to come back to.

2. Build community
Sports are one of the easiest ways for kids to find their people. Local teams, training groups, shared experiences. That sense of belonging is what keeps them coming back.

3. Let them play more than one sport
Early specialization can take the joy out of it fast. Trying different sports keeps things fresh and helps build more well-rounded athletes.

4. Create a positive environment
Kids stay where they feel supported. Effort, improvement, and attitude matter just as much as results, and they should be treated that way.

5. Keep it interesting
New environments, different sports, new challenges. The more variety kids are exposed to, the more likely they are to stay engaged and curious.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about performance. It’s about creating an experience they want to stick with.

When you sign your kids up for sports, you’re not just filling their schedule.

You’re shaping how they handle pressure.
How they build friendships.
How they see themselves.

The research is clear. Youth sports impact mental health, academic performance, and long-term confidence in powerful ways.

The impact goes far beyond just physical benefits.

✨ RISING STARS. BROOKLYN MADE. ✨

Our athletes showed up and showed OUT at the inaugural Rising Stars Youth Champs hosted by at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston — one of the premier track & field stages in the country. Last weekend, they competed against athletes from across the nation. Here’s what Brooklyn Speed & Power brought home:

🥇 Noel Huynh — 1st place, 400m and 4th place, 200m

🥈 Nyanne Clemetson — 2nd place, 400m

🏅 Makayla Parke — 5th place, 55m hurdles

🥈 Girls 4x200 Relay — 2nd place
Skyler Thompson · Eden Burwell · Camille Jefferson · Nyanne Clemetson

These young athletes didn’t just compete — they represented on one of the biggest stages in youth track & field. We couldn’t be more proud of the work, the heart, and the hustle they brought to Boston. 💪🏾

This is what it means to be Brooklyn Speed & Power — turning potential into performance, one race at a time. 🏃🏾‍♀️⚡
