🫀 ‘Daggermouth’ by .wolfe 🫀
HOLYYYY SH*T I ABSOLUTELY DEVOURED THIS BOOK.
New Found Haven is a city where the masked elite rule while those who live in poverty are forced to obey or die. There are no trials. There is no mercy. There is only the justice meted out by the elites. Greyson Serel, the president’s heir, is one such elite. To the public, he is a heartless ex*****oner. In private, he is trying to bring his father down. Shadera Kael is a formidable assassin, and her newest assignment is to kill Greyson. When their meeting doesn’t go as planned, the two find themselves shackled to each other in an impending marriage that would benefit the elite. With no other choice but to obey, the two find themselves leaning more on each other the more they learn. The real question is: will their tentative bond be enough to overthrow the city’s corrupt regime?
Holy heck was this book fun to read. From the political intrigue, to the world’s complex lore, to our lovable characters, to the ending that blew everyone’s mind, it is easy to see why this book became a social media sensation. Personally, I loved everything about it. Shadera is a murdery FMC (my favorite kind,) and the dynamic between her and Greyson was SPOT ON for a true enemies to lovers. I appreciated the realistic pacing of their story arc, and also loved how other characters were given just as much backstory and spotlight. The fascinating setup of the world drew me in completely, and that villain? The worst dude you’ll ever read. This story kept me on the edge of my seat, between the character relationships and arcs, the twists and turns, and the real emotion that radiated from every page. I would absolutely recommend this to dark sci-fi romance lovers, and honestly I can’t wait to read it again.
QOTD: Enemies to lovers or friends to lovers?

📖BOOK REVIEW📖
‘The Spirit Bares Its Teeth’ by .
A gripping read all the way through.
In a world where the Veil between the living in the dead has thinned, there exists the Royal Speaker Society to regulate who is allowed to manipulate the veil and who is not. Men are thought to be stout enough for such a task, while women are more suited toward becoming wives. Sixteen year old Silas Bell knows he has always been a boy, despite the world seeing otherwise, and he would rather risk ex*****on than become a Speaker wife. When his attempt to escape his fate doesn’t go to plan, he is diagnosed with ‘Veil Sickness’ and whisked away to a remote facility for those with such an ailment. But girls have been disappearing for years, and their ghosts have lingered.
Holy s**t this book is so good. I set off on this read expecting gory, macabre elements and a scary story of ghosts and the evil men that create them. Not only did this book exceed expectations, it gave me so much more. There is medical horror. Body horror. Commentary on the horrors of being a woman/girl in a world ruled by men. The frustration of having to break one’s own self in order to fit into the world (getting inside of Silas’s brain while he was forced to mask his autism was heartbreaking, to say the least.) AND, out of this tale, readers are also gifted retribution. A sweet love story. A hope that persists despite dire circumstances. I loved every single second of my time spent with Silas and in this world. I highly recommend this book to any horror lover.

⚔️APRIL RECAP⚔️
It was a busy month with events, Bookcon, and big ol changes that leave me starting my life over. I wrote maybe 3 sentences the entire month as a result, but I still got in some good reads.
One foot in front of the other, and hoping things get better from here.
QOTD: what May release are you most looking forward to?

A moment for the ✨FRIENDS✨
The reason I was able to enjoy the insanity that was bookcon so much is because I got to meet, hang with, and squeeze some of my favorite humans.
Tbh I've been going through a really tough time in life, and it blows my mind that books brought me humans who make me feel so seen and loved. This past weekend was such a beautiful reminder of that (and I cried many times.)
I didn't get pics with everyone so this is a sampler, but just know that each and every one of you I saw, chatted with, hugged, etc brings light into my life ❤️.
Forever grateful for this community.

A moment for the ✨AUTHORS✨
One of the absolute best parts of Bookcon was being able to fangirl over authors to their faces, and I will never get over how wonderful, kind, supportive, and delightful these humans who wrote our favorite stories are.
📖From gathering the courage to talk to on the show floor to going to her signing to gush over how obsessed I am with her books (also destroyed 🥲)
📖To yapping with multiple times and finally getting my copy of Carnival Fantastico signed 🥹
📖To meeting and screaming over her blind manuscript sampler
📖To seeing our queen again and getting my very own Pip 😍
📖To once again seeing the force that is speak and sobbing...again
📖To somehow ending up in a bar after con with some of the most poetic authors I've ever had the pleasure to read
📖To hunting down because gay vampires are MUST
📖To hanging with at the kickoff party and screaming about gay hockey players
📖To giggling with at the kickoff party
📖To meeting and yapping with the icon .wolfe (also shout-out to Maverick!)
I had a dream of a time. Shout-out to these wonderful authors for sharing their stories and themselves ❤️.

I have no brain cells after Bookcon weekend.
I want to talk about the good and the bad. The moments of pure joy. The hard work I witnessed. The exhilaration of seeing so many people I adore in one space. The incredible authors. The genuine interactions. The kindnesses and community and hugs that made it all worth it. The way I felt so overstimulated, yet seen and loved.
(And that will come. Just not now cuz my body hurts.)
So for now I'll just drop these bomb photos (courtesy of and ) say I freaking love y'all ❤️.

“Travelling through thick woods with a troop of goblins is not unlike a nature hike with a group of grumpy toddlers with weapons.”
📖BOOK REVIEW📖
‘Nine Goblins’ by
Aka The PERFECT silly Fantasy adventure.
In a world where magical powers are a mental health issue and Goblins and humans are at war, there exists a troop of nine hapless goblins led by their harried sergeant Nessilka. During a battle, this troop accidentally gets transported miles behind enemy lines thanks to a rogue wizard. Now? Nessilka has to figure out how to get her troop back to friendly territory, and it’s like herding cats. These nine goblins are forced to venture through a forest filled with untold dangers to get back home. Elves and trolls they can deal with, but…a human!?
I picked up this book looking for a fun, cozy-ish adventure and it is EXACTLY what I got. One of my favorite authors of all time is Sir Terry Pratchett, and this book has a lot of Pratchett-esque humor and tone. I loved that each goblin had their own personality (and that they’re all so cute!!!) and a veterinarian elf!? I mean, come on, this book was practically made for me. Following Nessilka as she tries to wrangle her ragtag crew was supremely satisfying, and the little twisty side-quest/mystery? Top tier, indeed. I would highly recommend this to all Fantasy readers simply looking for a fun time!
QOTD: Would you rather lead the troop or be a troop member?

📖NEW RELEASE BOOK REVIEW📖
‘The Book Witch’ by Meg Shaffer
The sweetest love letter to books I have ever encountered.
Rainy March is a book witch, tasked with protecting all storylines from anyone who seeks to wipe them from existence. She, along with her magical umbrella and cat familiar, jumps into novels to set characters back on track and make sure everything stays the same. But what happens when someone from the real world falls for a fictional character? She is about to find out. When her grandfather mysteriously goes missing and leaves a trail of vague clues to follow, Rainy finds herself teamed up with her childhood bookish crush, a detective called the Duke of Chicago. With a mystery to solve, and both her job and her heart on the line, can Rainy have it all?
I love books. This book is about loving books. So it should come as no surprise to anyone that I loved this book. Meg Shaffer has this magical way of writing lush, yet witty prose, with complex characters and the BEST banter around. I fell in love with our main characters immediately, cheering Rainy on in her attempts to prove herself, and swooning at the Duke’s flirtations. I loved how classic tales were woven into this narrative and how simple yet clever the magic system was (also absolutely LOVED the different genres made into sections.) This book is a blend of cozy, mystery, humor, and overall utter delight. If I were to ever be a witch, I would want to be a book witch (I would of course be wildly irresponsible and hunt down ALL my book boyfriends. They would fire me on the spot.) Another wonderfully cozy read to add to my shelf!
QOTD: What book would you not hesitate to dive into?
Thank you and for my gifted ARC!

📖PUB DAY REVIEW📖
‘The Gravewood’ by
Aka my new vampy obsession.
Shea Parker lives in a town that was cut off from the rest of the world by a forest called The Gravewood, run by vampires in a world where vampirism is spread like an infection. Shea Parker is also deaf. With her supply of batteries for her hearing aids rapidly dwindling, she is forced to make a pact with the Gravewood’s vampire leader, Lys – she gives her blood, he brings her batteries. But everything is turned on its head when Shea’s best friend Ellie goes missing. Ellie’s brother, Asher, deserts the frontlines to return and find her. Shea’s complicated feelings for both him and Lys rear their head the longer he’s back. And Lys sees the opportunity for a new bargain. With promises to find her friend, and cure her mother, hanging over her head, Shea is forced to reckon with the fact that not all monsters are quite what they seem, especially when the monster could be her.
Kelly Andrew has done it again, y’all. Seriously. This BOOK. It has so many things I love – beautiful, lush prose, a love triangle where there’s also tension between the boys, vampires, girlhood, and gore. It is a delectable and unputdownable read and you NEED it in your life. I love how our main girl Shea is quietly strong, even in some of her not great young person decisions, and getting to know the world through her is a treat. The dual POV is GIVING at all turns and getting into Lys’s head is a dream. The YEARNING is everything I’ve ever wanted. Lys is SO DOWN BAD and I’m here for all of it. And the slow burn? The layers of Asher? The TENSION!? It made me giggle, kick my feet, scream, and fling my kindle across the room all at once. Oh, and I should mention I forgot this wasn’t a standalone by the end and shall be writing the author for compensation for emotional damage whilst I wait for book 2 TYSM. Absolutely read this book if you grew up loving Twilight, stan BuffyxSpike, adore beautiful prose, and/or are here for paranormal dystopian Fantasy.
QOTD: BuffyxSpike or BuffyxAngel?
