Another member spotlight because our LFS members are the best! ๐Ÿคฉ

p.floris has been with LFS and is a great example of what can happen when you consistently show up and challenge yourself! ๐Ÿ’ช

Rebecca has been coming to LFS going on 2 years, helping keep the community and our plants๐ŸŒฑthriving. Itโ€™s been great to witness her growth and see new members come in, see Rebecca going hard, and say โ€œI want to be able to do what sheโ€™s doingโ€. Truly an inspiration!!! ๐Ÿฅน

This is Rebecca doing her 70 lb military press (mind you, she just started this exercise a few weeks ago). Something to be admired!! ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ

Now this one is pretty advanced yโ€™all! ๐Ÿซ 

Here at LFS we donโ€™t usually train FOR stability; we train for strength. ๐Ÿ’ช

But once you get super strong, you need to ensure that not only is proper technique being executed, but that the things that are harder for coaches to see (like internal muscle stability) are also being prioritized. ๐Ÿคž

Hence why we had Dan try lifting a barbell with hanging weight plates that can simulate the โ€˜shakinessโ€™ of a bamboo/earthquake barbell. ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Unlike a regular barbell, a bamboo/earthquake barbell, bends. Meaning the weight shakes as it moves. So if the weight is shaking? ๐Ÿซจ The lifter has to fight not to, ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ by engaging their core and shoulders that much more to make sure the movement stays controlled. ๐Ÿ™‚โ€โ†•๏ธ

So when Dan tries his regular bench again, heโ€™ll know how to control the weight better. Because moving a weight with control and proper muscle recruitment >>> means moving a weight safely. ๐Ÿ’ช

Her energy makes every session better and brings out the best in everyone around her โœจ

Katie has made INCREDIBLE progress this past year ๐Ÿ’ช

โžก๏ธ Push-ups from a 9 on the rack to crushing them at the 4 mark (below the knees!)

โžก๏ธ More than doubled her bench press from 20 lbs to 50 lbs ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ

โžก๏ธ Put in the work with her running and is hitting faster 5Ks than ever before ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Her journey hasnโ€™t been without challenges, but Katie has handled every setback with patience, determination, and absolutely zero quit ๐Ÿ™Œ

Sheโ€™s learned how to train smart, stay consistent, and keep moving forward ๐Ÿ‘

And on top of all that, sheโ€™s an amazing teammate โค๏ธ

Always encouraging others and helping lead the charge (alongside Steph!) for our upcoming LFS Olympics ๐Ÿ…

Katie truly embodies what it means to be a strong, supportive member of this community, and weโ€™re so lucky to have her! ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŽ‰ Sending a HUGE congrats to two of our superstar members who absolutely crushed some major fitness goals this weekend!! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”ฅ

dixon.52 completed her SECOND half marathon just a couple months apart, taking on the Brooklyn Half and crushing it! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ completed an incredibly impressive marathon swim of the English Channel this weekend, a massive 10km swim! ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ‘

These two continue to show what consistency, strength, and determination can accomplish โค๏ธ

โœจ A Very Belated Welcome to Coach Martie! โœจ

Martie has been with us for a few months now and has been absolutely crushing it in sessions ๐Ÿ”ฅ, so itโ€™s definitely time for an official intro ๐Ÿ‘

Coach Martie brings an incredible background to LFS as a former collegiate rower and 2x Division I National Champion, with more than 10 years of experience teaching yoga and group fitness classes. ๐Ÿšฃโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ

As a marathon runner and lifelong athlete, Martie knows firsthand how strength training and movement can build resilience, confidence, and balance both inside and outside the gym. Her coaching style is thoughtful, encouraging, and focused on helping people move well, feel stronger, and push past perceived limits with care and self-awareness.

Sheโ€™s worked with people from all kinds of backgrounds and abilities, and truly believes movement is a huge part of living better.

Outside the gym, you can usually find Martie exploring NYC, checking out live music, visiting museums, going for long walks, or spending time with friends. ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ™๏ธโ˜•๏ธ

Once upon a time (about a week ago), the coaches of LFS took on the helicopter challenge. ๐Ÿš

You may or may not remember, but it was mentioned that the fierce Coach Amy thought up another challenge, convinced that the coachesโ€™ core strength deserved a tougher test. ๐Ÿ‘บ๐Ÿ’ช

Which brings us here, to the feared, revered, floating plank. ๐Ÿ‘ป

The coaches had to anchor their legs on a box, and move from a straight arm plank to holding onto a barbell, which was anchored by another coach. ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

Core stability was tested. Shoulder stability was tested. Mental WILLPOWER might have been the hardest test of all. ๐Ÿ˜ช

Who will fall first??? ๐Ÿซจ

Which coach will be crowned the core king/queen? ๐Ÿคด

Itโ€™s the start of graduation seasonโ€ฆand LFS has been having some graduations of our own! ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŽ“

Just this week, one of our newer members, Mae, graduated to floor push-ups! ๐Ÿ‘

Mae was doing her push-ups in the rack, executing well, as usual. A littleโ€ฆtoo well. ๐Ÿง๐Ÿคจ

Of course, we want members to keep form throughout the exercise! But coaches can sense when the form is SO good that an
additional challenge might be in order.๐Ÿซฃ

This was one of those cases. And Mae, being the good sport she is, took Coach Morgan up on her challenge to move her push-ups down to the floor. ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Mae, being humble, was unsure if it was going to happen, since itโ€™s been a while since sheโ€™s tried them. But with a gentle nudge of encouragement from the coach and the other lovely members in that session, Mae set out to defy gravity! ๐Ÿ™Œ

AND PUMPED OUT 4 PUSH-UPS JUST LIKE THAT! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Mae, we donโ€™t have a cap and gown to give you, but we are celebrating!!! With floor push-ups in your back pocket, weโ€™ve now unlocked a whole new world of workouts! Congrats on the new achievement, and cheers to many more to come!๐Ÿ™‚โ€โ†•๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช
