Jikishinkan Dojo would like to thank Greg Noble Sensei for his instruction at the Zenshinkai Aikido Association seminar last weekend in Alexandria Virginia. Special thanks to Alison Lincoln Sensei for hosting the event at the brand new Ryushinkan dojo location. Also huge congratulations to Brody Sensei and Lloyd Sensei on their promotions.

Joseph Jarman (September 14, 1937 - January 9, 2019), founder of Brooklyn Buddhist Association and Jikishinkan Dojo, would have been 86 years old today. Sensei Jarman left a rich and wonderful legacy that includes music, Buddhism, and Aikido. Jikishinkan Dojo continues to teach Zazen and Aikido with the spirit of compassion he imbued in his students. Many of his students have gone on to run their own dojos and pass on the wonderful art he taught us. Our name, "Jikishinkan" translates roughly as "Direct Mind School". Given to us by the late Shihan Fumio Toyoda, it reflects our emphasis on training the mind as well as the body. Some things can be learned by reading or watching but Aikido and Meditation can only be learned by doing. Don't stand by the pool your whole life!
