Huge thank you to for coming out to Brooklyn to teach this weekend!
This course pushed us and gave us the tools to think differently about pain, about training, about what’s actually possible for people living in pain, and how to guide them to living a better life among SO many other things
Some of our biggest takeaways:
✨ Pain is a normal part of being human! As coaches we cannot diagnose or cure it, but we can problem solve and find ways to keep people moving and feeling good for as long as possible
✨ If you’ve been told NOT to squat, jump, deadlift, run because you’re in pain, what’s the alternative? You continue to live in pain. And the pain only gets worse. Movement is MEDICINE, and you can avoid life-altering surgeries, injuries and illness by learning how to move well
✨ People in pain should be training because it’s what is going to help them. Fear is normal, and as coaches we can help them work through that fear by having the education and tools to handle different situations
✨ As coaches, we don’t need to reinvent the wheel. We can train people through their pain by adjusting range of motion or angle, and show them they can still perform basic movement patterns like squats, hinges, and overhead work
✨ No matter how advanced or inexperienced someone is, we all have pain or limited range somewhere. That does not mean we stop training. It means slowing things down and working within a range that does not make the pain worse
✨ Pain can feel like a limitation, but it can actually create opportunity. Instead of stopping, we can use it as a way to build strength and confidence around it
