Another great week for Brownsville Parks and Recreation! ✨ From fresh trails to fixed fountains, the PARD team has been on a “TLC” marathon across our beautiful city.

Here’s the highlight reel:

🏗️ Facilities & Safety

Brownsville Events Center: New concrete plates & smooth sidewalks for our guests.

Oliveira Park: Concession stand repairs + public restrooms are officially OPEN!

Washington Park: Deep cleaned the historic fountain and patched the pump room roof.

Senior Center: New electrical repairs making the parking lot much brighter.

🛤️ Trails & Outdoor Spaces

Belden Trail: Fresh paint on signs, bench repairs, and a full path cleanup.

Linear Park: Drinking fountain repaired and lighting upgrades underway.

Southmost & La Posada: Full-scale mowing and litter cleanup.

⛳️ Sports & Play

Golf Center: Progress on the tee boxes! We’re leveling things out for a better game. 🏌️‍♂️

FM 511: Fresh red dirt leveled for the kickball field. ⚾

Morningside & North Park: Fresh paint on dugouts and cleared overgrowth.

🌿 Park Maintenance

Dean Porter Park: Fertilizer applied to keep the meadow lush.

Downtown Rec Center: Leaf-wrangling and new gym emergency lights.

Ruiz & Gonzalez: Mowing is done, and we’re prepping Ruiz for new playground mulch!

🐣 Community Spirit
To cap it all off, we teamed up with volunteers to fill thousands of plastic eggs for our upcoming Easter celebrations! 🥚✨

It’s a Big Weekend for Sports in Brownsville! 🌟
The Brownsville Sports Park (BSP) is buzzing with excitement this weekend, February 14–15!

From the gridiron to the court, the park is alive with activity:
🏈 Texas Youth Football All-Star Showcase
⚽ RGVYSA Futsal
🏐 Volleyball Tournament (dome)

While we appreciate the utilization of our world-class facilities, please be informed that these are private rentals booked by external organizers.

To our regular park-goers, we appreciate your patience as we host these visiting athletes!

Please plan for:
🚗Heavier traffic and limited parking within the complex.👫More pedestrians and young athletes moving between fields.⚡️Lots of energy and community spirit!

Attention Garden enthusiasts! The Native Plant Restoration & Gonzalez Garden Club is taking a brief intermission from our scheduled programming. But do not worry—the garden itself is as vibrant as ever!

While our formal classes are paused, the public is still welcome to drop by and enjoy and explore Gonzalez Park and the Gonzalez Garden.

📍 Antonio Gonzalez Park Garden (34 Tony Gonzalez Dr.) is open for visitors and self-guided volunteering:

Even the Easter Bunny needs a safety vest when the job is this big! We’re filling 100,000 plastic eggs for the Great Brownsville Easter Egg-A-Palooza and we need your help to cross the finish line.

Grab a friend, earn some service hours, and help us give Brownsville the best Easter ever!
