Pre-registration for the new school year will open up tomorrow for current members only before opening up to general public next week. As we enter our 15 year anniversary we have a lot of great surprises in store. Can’t wait to reveal. See you all soon.

Happy Juneteenth!

Today we honor the end of slavery in the United States and the enduring spirit of Black freedom, resilience, and joy.

Juneteenth is deeply connected to the story of capoeira. Born in Brazil among enslaved Africans, capoeira was more than movement-it was resistance, resourcefulness, and a way to preserve culture and community in the face of oppression. Under the disguise of dance and play, our ancestors created a powerful art that nurtured strength, foresight, and freedom.

When we play capoeira, we carry that legacy forward. We honor those who came before us by keeping their stories, music, language, and movements alive. We build bridges across generations and communities, and we stand in solidarity in the ongoing fight for justice and liberation for all.

We are because they were.
We are because they resisted.
We play for freedom.

Good evening everyone !

Quite a few announcements coming up but for starters :

🚨 no adult class tonight. We’ll resume adult classes on Thursday as per usual.

🚨 We would also like to say goodbye and good luck to Elástica ! After spending 3 months with us for her residency program, she accompanied me yesterday to San Antonio where she helped me teach a kids class for the start of their event. She will stay there for the duration of their batizado and leaves on Sunday to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams.

We are extremely proud of her and wish her much success !

Good morning everyone and Happy Memorial Day ! No classes today , we resume our last week of the academic schoolyear tomorrow. We will have our end of school year roda on Thursday from 6-7 !!! Enjoy the holiday.
