🍫🌿 CEREMONIAL CACAO VS. STORE-BOUGHT COCOA

You’ve probably seen bags of cocoa or cacao powder at the grocery store, Ross or TJ Maxx for $7–$10 and wondered…

“What makes ceremonial cacao different?”

Quite a bit. 🤎

Most store-bought cocoa powder has been processed into a fine powder with much of its natural cacao butter removed. Some products are also alkalized or more heavily processed.

Ceremonial cacao is whole cacao. The cacao solids AND natural cacao butter remain together, creating a rich cacao paste, usually sold in blocks, chunks or discs rather than powder.

And that matters when you’re drinking cacao intentionally. 🌿

Ceremonial cacao naturally contains theobromine, minerals such as magnesium and iron, and antioxidant plant compounds. It can bring gentle warmth, energy, circulation and focus without being intoxicating.

❤️ Spiritually, cacao is often worked with as a heart-centered plant ally. People drink it before meditation, prayer, journaling, breathwork or ritual to slow down, become present and connect inward. Cacao has deep historical ceremonial roots in Mesoamerica, long before it became the sweet chocolate we know today.

For a gentle cup, you might use 15–20 g. In ceremony, we traditionally prepare 1 oz—about 28 g per person.

✨ Not hot chocolate.
✨ Not psychedelic.
✨ Not simply cocoa powder.

Whole cacao. Intentionally prepared. A beautiful plant to incorporate into your own spiritual practice.

We’re so grateful to see our appointment calendar getting a little busier lately. 🙏 As more of you are coming in for services, we want to make scheduling a little easier for everyone and make sure we have a practitioner here when you arrive.

We highly recommend scheduling an appointment for Reiki sessions, spiritual cleanses, and massages so we can make sure your practitioner is available and ready for you.

For Tarot & Astrology readings, appointments are also recommended, but walk-ins are still welcome! 🔮✨ We know some of you love to stop by and wait for an available reader, and you are absolutely welcome to do that. You can also call ahead before making the trip to see if someone is available that day.
