Hello everyone!
We are hosting an alum tournament on Friday, April 28 at 5pm! This is the Friday before May Day, so we'll probably have some sort of casual event on Saturday for people planning to stay through May Day.
The tournament will be semi-formal, with pools for each weapon which will be structured enough to get in a good amount of fencing, but not overly formal. We'd love to have an idea of how many people are coming, so please fill out the linked form if you're planning to come.
Also if you would like to be added to the email listserv, let us know what your email is!

Hello Vixens!
I hope you all are doing well, whatever you are currently up to! I regret that it's been a while since I last reached out, as this has been one Interesting semester. But I wanted to update y'all on a couple of things some fencers are up to these days...
First, I have successfully devised a program which takes >1000 names of people in hell family trees (including the very large one from a few years back, and a few others shared with me) and generates a massive graph displaying all of them, which can be printed as an SVG--it's great resolution, and searchable! The database also allows you to filter for things like:
only fencers
only people from a certain class year
only people within two relationship "hops" from a certain person
the closest path of relationships between two people
I think it's pretty neat. You can find examples of all of these here (https://rb.gy/venygz). And check out the attached PNG of the full tree! The data is not complete, which is actually all the more reason for me to share it with y'all--if you have any additions or corrections you'd like to make to the database, please let me know! Just hit me up with those people's full names, class years, whether or not they were fencers, and who they are married to/child of.
If you are interested in getting a personalized copy of something from this database--for instance, your own family tree--then I am happy to direct you to the second thing I was going to talk about: some of the fencers (as a collection of friends, not as representatives of the club) are making things to sell and raise money for the Okra Project and the Philadelphia bail fund. You can order art, knitting, jewelry, origami, and a hand-drawn version of data from the hell graph! We even have fencing-specific merchandise: class mugs with the Vixen crest, argyle socks, and a pretty sweet piece of art with a sword-wielding fox. I believe we are taking requests until 11/30. If you are interested, you can check out the order form here: https://forms.gle/Lc4YfeTSp33hZki47
As ever, feel free to reach out with things to contribute to the Vixen Archive, or even just to chat!
Stay safe out there!

Hello Vixens!
It is my honor to present the online Vixen Archive! The Vixen Archive is a community-based, semi-public resource, so you'll need instructions to access it: please contact me at [email protected] for the info!
To quote the About page:
This is a collaborative effort to represent the history and culture of Bryn Mawr College's Fencing Club (The Vixens). Since its founding in 2004, there have been over 100 Vixens, and many of their experiences at Bryn Mawr have been profoundly impacted by this club. This Archive seeks to represent those memories, for the enjoyment of the Vixen community. The Archive also contains information relating to all fencing and fun sword times at Bryn Mawr. Pre-2004 sword memories are referred to as "The Anteclub."
The Vixen Archive is a semi-public resource, which means it is intended to be both accessible and enshrouded. Only community members are permitted to view its contents, for the sake of their privacy and comfort. If you have access to the Archive, please do not proliferate its information.
The Vixen Archive exists almost entirely for the purpose of fun. For this reason, the Club Historian has not included information that they have subjectively determined to be confidential, uncomfortable, or in some way against this principle.
This Archive is a work in progress, and there will be more to come! Please check back. And please feel free to contribute. If you would like to contact the site operator to add to the Archive, to remove content, or to correct errors, typos, and deadnames, email the Club Historian at [email protected]. The current Club Historian is Peyton Moriarty '21, she/her.
This has been a wonderful project to work on with you all, and I intend to continue improving and adding to it. Thank you for your contributions, trust, and patience. I hope to hear from you!
Enjoy,

Hi everyone! I'm sorry it has taken us so long to follow up on this, but thank you so much for a wonderful Vixens Virtual May Day two weeks ago! It was so nice to see all of you who could come, and if you couldn't make it I hope you found other ways to celebrate that weekend.
We have a video of this year's Fencing Play (well, two videos -- a long version including all our shenanigans, and a slightly shorter and more polished version). If you want to see a video of the play, regardless of whether you saw it live or not, please reach out to me! They may also be coming to you through email. Reminder that we did not receive permission to post the videos publicly, so please send them directly to people as opposed to posting them on Facebook or elsewhere.
Thanks again for helping make this event such a success, and I hope you are all safe and well!

Hi everyone! The Vixen Virtual May Day will be happening on Saturday, May 2nd (this Saturday), from 12:30-4pm Eastern Time! I am so sorry if that time doesn't work for you -- it was the one that worked for the current fencers, and we tried to accommodate different time zones, so I hope you can come if you are interested!
IMPORTANT: If you are interested in this event, please comment below, so that we can send you the Zoom info.
We will be enjoying strawberries together at the beginning, so get strawberries if you can safely do so! We will also be performing the fencing play, doing a stepsing, and hopefully giving the rising seniors a chance to anass. More details on those later. Finally, we're looking into ways we can play cards or other games virtually.
Friday night, starting at 7pm, we will be doing a combined flower crown-making (with whatever materials you have/can get -- I'll probably be doing tissue paper flowers) and scriptwriting extravaganza. If you are interested in that as well, let us know, otherwise we'll get you info for the main event on Saturday.

Hello Vixens!
In light of the increasing isolation from COVID-19, we're trying to pull together and make sure our community is still there for its members. So, we're tossing around the idea of having a Vixen Virtual May Day! As far as I am aware, BMC has not yet disclosed a plan for a general makeup for May Day festivities, but we were probably going to have our own, either way. It will probably be held the date May Day 2020 was planned for: May 3rd. We will talk to friends, enjoy our own food and drink, and continue the St. George & the Dragon tradition! This event will be open to all Vixens, current and past! If you are interested, please respond to this survey:

Don't forget to share the link with your Vixen friends!
Thanks y'all! Stay safe out there!

Hello fencers!
This is your Club Historian, passing on a message from Beckie Bull ‘20, the current Club President:
This semester, we are hoping to sell fencing club-themed merchandise in order to raise money (we’re taking a road trip to USACFC Champs in Springfield, MA!) and to let you show off your BMC fencing pride! Our club fundraiser, Meagan Thomas, made a survey to find out which items might interest people: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScHtSxmQRONzMuqZIQduDT3J8JQwYYAaXE8NtPq5Wke1uDIcQ/viewform?usp=sf_link. Please fill out the survey as soon as possible.
Thanks y’all!!
SUPER FUN FUNDRAISING ITEM IDEAS
Hello friends, alums, and fencers all. Below is a list of potential items we could sell to fundraise for our beloved club. À la Bryn Mawr Traditions, based on interest level we would pick a few items and do a preorder sale. We would also be able to have some items on hand for plenary sales, and ~sp...

Hello fencers! The club is resurrecting the position of Club Historian, and we are reaching out to our alumni, both so we can compose a cohesive history of the club, and so we can get to know y'all better! The goal is to produce a record of the club and its culture, accessible by past, current, and future members. If you'd like to talk, or have any information you want to be put in the record (dates, significant/memorable events, club participants, club interactions in competitions, anecdotes, and pictures are all more than welcome! And you can always request that any information shared with the historian not be put in the final public record), our Club Historian's contact info is:
