Here's a question I have that I think many Christians ponder, maybe even the Apostle Paul at one time.

Does our past affect the new creation? Saul, before he was Paul, was a violent, pious, traditionalist. He had papers to lock up Christians in jail, and he stood by and supported the stoning to death of Stephen.

Paul, speaking of himself, said I beat my body into submission. Even though he's a new creation, the old one still wants to live.

With all of the violence he condoned as Saul of Tarsus, do you think that maybe Paul once thought what he did as Saul is the reason for the persecution he suffered through as Paul?

Possibly. Paul asked God to remove the nonstop persecution. The Spirit said, " My grace is sufficient for you."

The thing I have to consider is that I can't be any more dead to myself than Jesus' death on the cross, and I can't be any more righteous than Jesus' resurrection.

So, how can our past affect the new creation except through the deceitfulness of Satan working through the mind of the flesh, while it's being renewed and a body that is habitual in wanting its way?

I think God's grace is sufficient to renew our minds to this truth, and Paul wrote about this, too. So he's sharing with us how to overcome, because he overcame through right thinking and believing, while growing in faith and renewing the mind, to the point that Paul said, "None of these things move me."

Paul's old man truly died on the cross, and he now lives life through the new, resurrected creation.

I no longer live...

Salvation is easy. Anyone who calls on the name of Jesus is saved, but for that seed to grow and produce fruit of like kind is a process, sometimes a long process. Didn't Paul go to Arabia for 14 years before the Spirit brought him back to Jerusalem to begin his ministry?

If Paul and others are our example, then the body of Christ has some explaining to do for the last 2000 years with their dumb religion and traditions that defy the work of the Spirit.

It truly is grace, and nothing but grace that transforms the new creation into a God-pleasing image and likeness of our creator.

Happy to understand that we're now on the same road as the early church, where the former and latter rain are flooding the hearts and minds of God's people with truth, boldness, and power.

PLEASE READ A FEW CHANGES THIS WEEK.

We had a little disagreement about whether the Mystery Bounty should be paid to the player who got the bounty, even though the player didn't get KO because of cracked Aces. I ended up giving the reward to the player who KO'd the Mystery Bounty.

I see the point of their argument, so if and when that happens again, the player who took the bounty will receive the "Mystery Bounty" reward even though the player isn't KO'ed.

Sunday: My home tourney is playing this SUNDAY, APRIL 26, at 5:00 p.m. to support the American Legion game.



Tim's Home Hold'Em Tourneys play every Saturday at 5:00 p.m. except this week, which is on Sunday.

$20 is set aside for the person who eliminates the "Mystery Bounty" player.

In secret, I spun the wheel, and it landed on Chae Johnson as our "Mystery Bounty". Congrats to Blair Dreyfus, who eliminated the "Mystery Bounty" and won the $20 prize because, in my mind, the "Mystery Bounty" needed to be eliminated to win the prize.

If you are the "Mystery Bounty" and you make it to the final table and reach the end of the game without being eliminated, then the "Mystery Bounty" receives the $20 prize, and the "Mystery Bounty" gets to sign their name as the uncontested "Mystery Bounty" winner!

Each week, an optional potluck is on the menu. Please bring your savory, sweet, or favorite dish.

The entry fee is $40, with a starting deep stack of 44k. Your entry includes a $5 bounty, no bonus chips or rebuys, and 100% payouts.

Bad beats and cracked Aces spin the lucky wheel until the final table. Double after the break, but ends at the final table.

Three high-hand winners receive cash, included in the entry fee.

A $10 optional Add-On at the break gets you 20k.
