There’s nothing like camping in a dark canyon, on the new moon, with

It rained for 3 hours before the stars came out, the sky opened up from 1am - 3am , and then rained again before sunrise. I know because it woke me up lol, but fortunately I was able to sit up and close the fly in seconds.

Did it storm from 9-12? Yes.
Was it incredible from 1am - 3am? Yes.
Would I have experienced it in a normal tent? No.

Not many people would crawl out of their tent at 1am into the mud to remove their rainfly… while knowing that it could easily cloud back in at anytime and start raining again. (Which it did). Typical rainflys block out so much of the experience and make it impractical to sleep under the stars, aside from under the most ideal of conditions.

I’m really busy these days and time is moving so quickly. When I do make it out, I want to experience everything I can and savor the moments. Easiest way to do that is camping in a Sky View Tent :)

PS - Browns Canyon National Monument is our local dark sky area, right between Buena Vista and Salida. If you want be under dark skies, have privacy, pristine wilderness, wildlife, and giant granite mastiffs just waiting to be climbed and explored…check it out! It’s an incredible place. And while you’re at it, please checkout Friends of Browns Canyon , a volunteer organization dedicated to preserving and protecting this magical place. Following and supporting organizations like Friends of Browns Canyon is more important than ever these days. ✊

My buddy Ross with Homeland Wildfire had some water leftover in the tank after a month of giving these Colorado wildfires a beatdown. We already know our tents are waterproof, but hell yeah fire trucks!!!

PRO-TIP! Make sure that rainfly stays tight, even if it's windy alllllnight long.

A simple overhand and our hooks will never loosen.
Been meaning to post this forever. This is how we rigged our rainflys up during our consecutive months of testing in high altitude Colorado winds.

As I type this .. all I want to do is forget my phone, escape to the mountains, sleep under the stars, and feel peace. I want to be present, not a care in the world, maybe other than finding a snack - just like this pup.
