We were honored to be apart of the 7th Annual Black Doll Exhibit at the Buffalo Museum of Science. Thank you to for hosting and to curator Lisa Jacobs-Watson for creating a space where Black history, representation, and imagination are celebrated.

This year’s theme, “Through the Eyes of Black Dolls: Our History Will Not Be Erased,” also reflects our work as artists and educators at the studio. Like Black dolls, our dancers affirm identity and claim space through movement and presence.

Sharing this moment with Lisa Jacobs-Watson and our Buffalo City Ballet dancers made the weekend even more meaningful. 🩰🖤

This Black History Month hits different. 🖤

Founded in 1976, the base of our mission has been: every child deserves access to classical ballet, regardless of background.

For 55 years, we’ve challenged traditional perceptions of ballet by creating a space where Black dancers are seen, valued, and empowered in an art form where representation has too often been missing.

Our studio is more than a place to dance. It’s where history lives on the walls, confidence is built in the studio, and young people are encouraged to dream big and see themselves on stages where they were once overlooked.

As we celebrate this milestone year, we invite families to become part of our legacy. Whether your child is just starting out or already passionate about dance, Buffalo City Ballet is a welcoming, inclusive community where artistry, discipline, and diversity thrive.

We are grateful to the Concerned Citizens Following the Dream Committee for the invitation and honor of performing at the 20th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Kleinhans yesterday. Dancing in tribute to Dr. King’s legacy, alongside our community, was deeply meaningful for our artists and organization.

At Buffalo City Ballet, we strive to embody Dr. King’s principles every day through our mission and in our studio by fostering equity and access in the arts, uplifting young people, building community through excellence and discipline, and using dance as a powerful voice for unity, dignity, and hope.
