Alongside our friends at Kaleida Health and the Buffalo Bills, we had the honor of celebrating the permanent installation of the Heart of Buffalo community mural created by Patti Thomas, aka The Ghost, in the lobby of Buffalo General Medical Center! This beautiful mural combines Thomas' artistic vision with contributions from community members who participated in its creation during the launch of the Highmark Trail on Aug. 24.

Now permanently displayed at Buffalo General Medical Center, the mural serves as a lasting symbol of community pride and connection.

We welcomed labor leaders and team members to the Buffalo Bisons' Labor Night at the Ballpark, including Highmark President Jessica Cox and OPEIU Local 153 President Lynn Brooks.

As Buffalo's only health insurer with union-represented employees, we're proud of our nearly 70-year relationship with OPEIU Local 153. Our long-standing relationship with organized labor remains an important part of who we are, helping us better serve our members and communities throughout Western New York.

Yesterday at the Highmark Trail grand opening, our team had a blast celebrating alongside the Buffalo Bills and the Western New York community at large!

Our 1.7 mile interactive trail is free to use, open to the public and was designed to be a destination point for all to experience fitness, fun and fandom. Together, we celebrated with Bills legends and Billy Buffalo, collaborated on a community mural created by Patti Thomas, aka The Ghost, and much more.

To wrap up our event, two winners were identified from participating in our Heart of Buffalo Scavenger hunts and will be attending the home opener on Sept. 17!

More than 50 school leaders from across Western New York joined us at Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York to discuss the complex challenges affecting students and educators today, including mental health, bullying prevention, staff wellness and support.

Thank you to our speakers and panelists for sharing valuable insights, resources and perspectives that helped foster meaningful dialogue around student and staff well-being as we prepare for the new school year.
