Better Buffalo Sports

Not the news I wanted to wake up hearing to. But couldn't ask for them to go out shooting any other way. Game 7 in Overtime. Players dream for an opportunity like that as a kid. They truly fought to the end. To think 5 months ago we were gearing up for our 15th year in the drought. These boys managed to do something.... Hell I'll say it.... Tougher than winning the Stanley Cup. Snapping the longest Playoff Drought in NHL history. 15 years worth of pain and suffering. 15 years of suffering these players inherited. Former Sabre Craig Rivet said it best a few years ago. "It's hard to win, it's even easier to lose." This team managed do almost the impossible... Go the distance. Although they were eliminated. This season has been nothing short of spectacular. This team:

-Tied a Franchise Record of 10 wins in a row
-Snapped a 14 consecutive season playoff drought
-Won the Atlantic Division (Hardest division in the NHL)
- Won their 1st playoff series in nearly 20 years (Spring 2007)
..and more.

Brian & I have been doing this page for almost 20 years and I think it's safe to say this season was one of the best in franchise history. For what this team was able to accomplish... in a short amount of time. And although they didn't have the comeback buzz beaters (thoughout the season), or OT game winning goals like the 05-06 team. I have to say. It was really fun throughout the season watching teams & their fan bases get super offended that they "Lost to the Buffalo Sabres." 🐸☕️

Personally it kills me that I couldn't be home for the games. It kills me that I couldn't be there for the "Party in the Plaza." I dreamed of being there ever since I could watch the Sabres (32 yrs ago).... to experience Buffalo Playoff hockey IN PERSON.

On the other hand being in the new "Better Days" video is appreciative enough. Actually shocked I made it. However the even greater feeling is having the privilege of taking my son to his 1st 3 hockey games. 1 in the preseason & 2 throughout the regular season. One of which being, "Reunion Night." I know he won't remember but as parents I think we can agree when your kid has that certain look in their eyes. It was truly worth it. We also try not to post about our personal lives here but in this video I included a couple pics of my son. One of which is my all time favorite as a parent.... that "look in their eyes."

To the players.... don't hang your heads. For this was a remarkable season. Seriously, Buffalo Sabres from a life long Buffalonian... Thank you. Take the time off. Spend it with your families... And be ready in October because...... WE HAVE A DIVISION TITLE TO DEFEND!!!!!
