Post Season Training for Ice Hockey

The ice hockey season tends to be longer than most other sports at the college and pro level.

The goal of post-season training is to restore mobility, foundational strength, and build up work capacity.

Here we have a Friday Session with professional hockey player going through a general work capacity circuit. This involves low resistance, higher volume, and minimal rest time.

This will allow athletes to build a better aerobic base in order to improve their ability to recover during more intensive activity and maximize return on later blocks that involve max strength, power, and speed.

YOUTH ATHLETE TRAINING!

The long-term athletic development process should start at a young age.

With younger athletes, our primary focus is improving their neuromuscular coordination and pattern recognition by introducing them to new movements and positions.

The goal is to set a foundation to improve athleticism with the proper progressions over time.

Young athletes will learn how to train in a safe and effective way, while also developing great work habits and having some fun.

Before each client starts their training, they go through a Next Level assessment to look at strengths, weaknesses, mobility limitations, and fitness limitations.

This allows us to build everyone’s program so that it is specific to what they need. A program that doesn’t address someone’s limitations can potentially lead to an increased risk of injury.

The assessment includes a Needs Analysis while we also go over a client’s fitness and performance goals. Whether it be to build strength, power, muscle, improve body composition, or increase endurance, we tailor everyone’s program to areas they want to improve on.

Are you an athlete looking to make a big transformation on the field next year?

Don’t wait until the last month before training camp starts. We recommend at least 3-4 months of consistent training to get bigger, faster and stronger!
