“Bike to School Day is something my kids look forward to every year and it never disappoints! We ride to school most days but there is something very special about riding with a large group and seeing all the kids and community members get so pumped up for kids on bikes,” said mother of two, Erin Copping. “I think it’s important for kids to have a deeper connection with their city and community around them, and biking to school gives them an opportunity to feel like explorers and not merely passengers.”
“It often easy to get stuck in our normal, chaotic, morning routine- we love when the weather warms up and we can get up, get active and enjoy some time together riding our bikes to school,” said Kacie Liwosz, an active community figure at PS 64 Frederick Law Olmsted School. “My kids pop out of bed when I tell them it’s a ‘bike to school day’- and even better when we can get together with friends in the community to make sure we ride safely!”
