Apprenticeship University is officially underway! Last week, Say Yes Buffalo’s Modern Youth Apprenticeship program welcomed its fifth cohort of apprentices for four weeks of paid, in-person workshops designed to build the foundational professional skills they’ll use in the workplace, in college, and beyond. In addition to hands-on workshops, apprentices are strengthening their communication skills through daily email activities and weekly debrief meetings.

A big thank you to our Week 1 facilitators for helping Cohort 5 start strong: SYB’s Emily Vargas (Time Management), M&T Bank’s India Walker and Elizabeth Ramirez (Communication), SYB’s LaTanya Walton-Brown and Abdorrahim Fadel (HR 101), and SYB’s Shaydi Rivera (What to Wear to Work). We’re excited to watch this cohort learn, grow, and take their next steps!

In addition to the laptops, yesterday our recent high school graduates completed workshops on how to analyze a college syllabus, time management, and mindfulness while dozens of others received help completing their FAFSA and TAP applications.
