Well deserved accolades to another one of our clients! Preservation Studios' team loved working on the Part 2 and Part 3 for this project. This adaptive reuse work was submitted for a Preservation Award and was selected as Best Commercial Project in Niagara County! A few weeks ago, we were honored at the New York State Historic Preservation Conference with an Excellence in Historic Building Rehabilitation for our work on the Huntington Apartments in Seneca Falls, New York. Preservation Studios provided the complete HPCA process (Part 1 through Part 3), including the National Register nomination. Most notable for the exterior transformation and helping to make the project financially feasible was an accurate reconstruction of the missing mansard rooftop floor.

This building was developed by Home Leasing in partnership with Eagle Star Housing through Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative. The Huntington Apartments feature 53 affordable apartments, including 27 with supportive services for veterans in need of housing.

Previously, this building had been the home to many businesses, including the National Yeast Company, the Iroquois Motor Car Company, a box company, and an auto dealership. This rehabilitation was supported by $24 million from public and private funding, including New York State Homes and Community Renewal's (HCR) and federal low-income housing tax credits, Downtown Revitalization Initiative funding, NYSERDA energy-efficient support, federal and state historic tax credits, and additional funding from the Community Preservation Corporation.

Always great to see our projects highlighted as preservation "saves"! While not all projects go through as dramatic of a change as Harper's Corner, but definitely one of the best part of our jobs is being part of these kinds of historic transformations, especially when they help address critical housing needs in downtowns across New York State.

Preservation Studios completed the HPCA Parts 1, 2, and 3 for both these projects.

One of the best parts of having projects all over New York State is that you never need to figure out a lunch spot after a site visit!

Eli Fish Brewing Company is in the Newberry Building, a historic five-and-dime that Preservation Studios nominated to the National Register in 2015 as part of Batavia's only completed historic tax credit project in the last 25 years. Preservation Studios completed the HPCA Parts 1, 2, and 3.
