We have heard reports of an accident today on the water near Catherine Street where a kayaker fell in, and was able to get out but may have suffered hypothermia. As the weather starts to turn sunnier, it is good to remember that safety guidance for paddling recommends a combined air and water temperature of 120 degrees, and to dress for the water temperature as opposed to the air temperature in case you are exposed.

The latest Buffalo Blueway is now open! Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper and others held a grand opening yesterday to showcase upgrades we made to the Department of Environmental Conservation’s Harlem Road Fishing Access and Boat Launch on the Buffalo River.

Located south of Clinton Street in West Seneca, the Harlem Road site now features an ADA accessible fishier pier and pathway leading to the pier, an updated paddle sport launching area, as well as upgrades to the shoreline. It is Waterkeeper's seventh Blueway site.
