Tonight the older girls took the field at home vs the Cheektowaga Raiders (18u) and came out swinging in a 24-1 win at Sullivan Park. The team collected 14 hits, led by Grave Cornell (RBI), Mya Raley (4-rbi), Savannah Beaudette (3-rbi) and Mackenzie Leigh Johnson (4-rbi) as each had two in the game. Amileah Muhisin, Hayley Richards, Kailyn Riggerman, Tessa Dominesey, Hannah Bauder and Allison Hendershot who all had one hit apiece. Allison also led the team by scoring four runs, followed by Leah Johnson, Hannah and Savannah, all with three. Grave, Mya, Hayley Richards and MJ all scored twice while Amileah, Kailyn and Tessa all scored once. Overall a very productive night offensively for the girls, but the defense is where the lights shined it's brightess as Mackenzie Leigh Johnson had a triple play in the sixth and Grace Cornell turned an unassisted double play in the seventh. Leah Johnson was solid at second base as was Savannah and Tessa at shortstop and Hannah, Dylan Baldwin and Amileah at first base. Arabella Hoppe, Kailyn and Tessa did a great job in the outfield. Allison, Mya, MJ, Leah, Dylan all caught well behind the plate in support of the nights pitchers, who combined on 3-hitter, striking five Raider batters. Grace had two solid innings to start the game, followed by Mya Raley, Tessa Dominesey, MJ Johnson, Hannah Bauder and Savannah Beaudette who all had one inning in the circle.
It was a pleasure to host such a respectful set of young ladies in the Raiders. They put the ball in play all night and we're very positive from start to finish, we will see them soon in Cheektowaga later this summer. But as for our girls it was awesome watching them play numerous positions and produce no matter where they played. The teams next game 16u game is this Sunday at the Lake Shore Storm (1pm) and 18u game is Monday at the Hamburg Dawgs (6pm). Both teams are sponsored by Chaffee Chick Design and Coops Red Caboose in Arcade, NY. Great job tonight ladies and good luck Sunday and Monday!!

Today both the 14u and 16u teams traveled to Dunkirk for games vs Chadwick Bay and came out on top 7-4 & 10-3 respectively. First, the 14u squad (sponsored by Edelweiss Farms) came out on top 7-4 in a well played game by both teams. Grace Cornell, Leah Johnson and Mya Raley all scored in the first inning. Mya had the big blow with a 2-run single and later scored on a Tessa Dominesey ground out. The score remained 3-0 behind the defense of Tessa at shortstop, Leah at second, McKenzie Bauder at third and Kailynn Riggerman in center field as Grace Cornell was dealing in the circle.
In the fourth, Chadwick Bay struck for two runs on a walk and a defensive miscue, making the score 4-2. Mya Raley answered with a 2-run home run in the fifth scoring Leah Johnson for a 5-2 lead. Chadwick Bay was shut down with two Cornell strikeouts and a great over the shoulder catch at second base by Leah Johnson. After a quiet sixth where both Tessa and Amileah Muhisin singled and were left stranded Chadwick Bay cut the lead to 5-4 off reliever Tessa D. Who settled in to end further damage by catching a pop up and recording a strikeout. Again Grace and Leah answered with runs in the seventh for a 7-5 lead. Mya and Tessa putting the ball in play with timely hits was the difference. Tessa was dominant in the seventh, recording three strikeouts to end the game in favor of the Cardinals 7-4.
The 16u team (sponsored by Chaffee Chick Design & Scoops Red Caboose) also came out strong as Grace Cornell, Leah Johnson (RBI) and Hannah Bauder (RBI )all collected hits and scored for an early 3-0 lead. The second inning broke things open for the Cardinals as they played seven runs for a 9-0 lead. Mackenzie Leigh Johnson (single), Tessa Dominesey (single), Grace (2-run double), Leah (RBI double), Mya Raley (RBI double) and Savannah Beaudette (RBI single) all scored. Chadwick Bay managed a pair of runs in the home half of the second inning off starter Tessa D. who also had five strikeouts through two, limiting further damage. After a scoreless third, which featured a sweet 5-4-3 double play by Grace, Peyton Comstock and Hannah Bauder. Peyton Comstock doubled and scored off an RBI single by Dylan Baldwin for a 10-2 lead in the fourth. The bottom half was closed out by a solid catch from Peyton, another DP attempt from Grace, MJ and Hannah and another Dominesey strikeout. Despite another Bauder hit and a Mya walk, the score remained 10-2 until a few fielding miscues led to a run off reliever Grace Cornell making the score 10-3 as she recorded a pair of k's to end the inning. In the seventh , Tessa had a single, but was left stranded as was a Chadwick Bay runner as the game ended 10-3 on a pair of Cornell strikeouts.
Overall, a pair of solid games to really get things started for the summer season, especially when most of WNY was flooded out due to rain. Having said that, thank you Kory and Chadwick Bay for hosting and making sure we played games today, we really appreciate it. 14u plays at home vs Cheektowaga on Thursday at Sullivan Park and both teams travel to Brant NY next Sunday for a pair of games vs the Lake Shore Storm. Great job today ladies, Go-FastPitch-Go!!

It is with a heavy heart to inform our softball family that we lost a great umpire, but a better man yesterday as Randy Smith passed away. Randy umpired over a 100 softball games for the Lady Cardinals over the years and did it with a smile. He never had an agenda, he never came in looking for a problem, he just wanted to be around the game and the girls and do his best. He always supported our fundraisers and spoke very highly of our organization (starting from scratch) and all our girls (especially the ones he knew from the early years). Prayers go out to the Smith family, especially his wife Diane, who knew he could never say no to a game in Arcade nor a free cheeseburger from time to time. You will be missed!! 😢

Congratulations to NY Inferno who defeated the Amherst Thunder 15-8 in the GOLD finals of our 2026 Cardinal Fast pitch 12U Extravaganza. Also, congratulations to the Fury for winning the Silver Championship by defeating the EMW Impact 14-1. Thank you once again for choosing us as part of your 2026 tournament season as it truly was a pleasure hosting all of you and your great 12u players this weekend. I hope that this was a positive experience as our staff really worked our tails off to start your 2026 tournament season on the right foot.
As far as our Cardinal Fastpitch squad is concerned they dropped a 10-1 decision to the Amherst Thunder in the GOLD Bracket final. The girls battled throughout, but the Thunders bats and pitching proved to be too much for our young Cardinals. A special thank you to the Franklinville Little League program for allowing us access to your field. If it wasnt for you, we wouldn't have been able to get this tournament in with all the local schools not allowing us access for some reason?? Anyways, thank you so much!!
