Our Saturday Night Rodeo, held March through November, brings together bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, mutton bustin’, calf scramble, Texas BBQ, live country music and dancing for a full evening of family-friendly entertainment. Tejas is more than a rodeo. Dine year-round at the award-winning Tejas Steakhouse & Saloon, shop Western apparel, gifts and custom hats at the Tejas Company Store, or plan an event that gives your guests a one-of-a-kind Western experience. We host corporate, convention and social events across our distinctive indoor and outdoor venues, including Western Sky and the Tejas Rodeo Grounds. Breakaway roping is one of the fastest events in rodeo, but there's a lot more to it than just catching a calf!
🐎 π™ƒπ™šπ™§π™š'𝙨 𝙝𝙀𝙬 π™žπ™© 𝙬𝙀𝙧𝙠𝙨:
β€’ Unlike tie-down roping, the rope is tied to the saddle horn with a small string. Once the calf is caught and the horse stops, the rope pulls tight and breaks that small string and the rope breaks-away from the saddle horn.

β€’ A brightly colored flag attached to the end of the rope helps the judges see exactly when it breaks free, stopping the clock.

β€’ A broken barrier adds a 10-second penalty, so getting the timing right from the start is just as important as the catch.

β€’ The fastest clean time wins! Competitive runs can be completed in just a couple of seconds.

Next time you're watching breakaway at Tejas, keep your eyes on the rope. Blink, and you might miss the whole run! 🀠
