📍 The Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge, South Africa

There are few places where you can leave a massage, walk to the window, and find a herd of elephants just beyond the fence.

At The Shepherd’s Tree, the wild is never far away.

One moment our dancers were relaxing at the lodge. The next, they were running to the balcony to watch a herd gathering at the water.

And that is what makes Safari Swing so special — the opportunity to experience the beauty of South African nature while surrounded by the comfort and luxury of the lodge.

Elephants are extraordinary creatures — their trunks hold up to 40,000 muscles, they communicate through infrasonic calls humans can’t hear, their herds are led by the wisest matriarch, pregnancies last a remarkable 22 months, and their feeding habits actively shape the savanna for other species.

They’re even one of the few animals that can stand their ground against lions, defending their young by forming a united wall of strength.

Our lion may be the mascot.

But out here, the elephants have a presence of their own.

I still remember my first safari: South Africa’s wildlife up close, creatures I’d only ever seen in books or on TV, suddenly standing right there in front of me. That feeling never really leaves you.

That’s the heart of Safari Swing - sharing something I’m deeply passionate about with a community I love being part of.

It’s a celebration of the best of South Africa: world-class luxury, unforgettable hospitality, and dance lessons from the world’s leading West Coast Swing professionals.

Honestly, the part I can’t wait for? Watching people step out on their first-ever game drive and seeing them feel exactly how I felt all those years ago.
