A growing concern is emerging around drug-resistant ringworm. The CDC has highlighted *Trichophyton indotineae*, a strain that can cause severe infections and may resist terbinafine, one of the most commonly used antifungal treatments. Reports have documented its spread across numerous countries, raising concern as cases become more difficult to treat.

For wrestlers, the risk is especially important because ringworm spreads easily through close skin-to-skin contact. Daily skin checks, showering after practice, washing gear, avoiding shared towels or headgear, and disinfecting mats remain critical. If an infection does not improve with normal treatment, medical evaluation and additional testing may be necessary.
