๐ฏ๐ฅ North Atlantic Open at Minute Man Sportsmenโs Club โ Thatโs a Wrap! ๐ฅ๐ฏ
What a great week of s***t at MMSC! All in all, it was a beautiful weekend for shooting โ comfortable temps, sunny skies, and a manageable breeze that kept things interesting on the field.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, traveled in, competed, helped, refereed, scored and made the North Atlantic Open such a successful event.
We were proud to welcome shooters from across the region and beyond, with states represented including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Texas.
A special thank you to our wonderful referees โ John Dyson, Mark Bantis, and Armand Watts โ and to the crew at MMSC, including Chamberlain and staff. We appreciate all the work that went into making the event run smoothly.
We also want to give a huge shoutout to our Junior shooters! We had a great group of youth shooters join us, including some who were shooting a registered event for the first time. It was great to see them on the field and be part of the event.
Thank you to the Durant/Farley/Haywood Fund and the MSSA for helping support the cost by subsidizing the Junior entry fees.
This kind of support makes a real difference, and we hope to see more of this at shoots across our great state of Massachusetts.
Congratulations to all of our winners! ๐

A big thank you again to all the shooters and volunteers who made the week possible. Great targets, great competition, and great company โ we appreciate everyone who came out to support the event! ๐ฏ๐
AND THEN CAME THE .410 ๐จ๐จ๐จ
The wind showed up, the targets got sporty, and most of us were just hoping to leave with our dignity intact. Then Spencer Ball stepped in, calmly ran a 98 like the targets owed him money, and walked off like it was just another Sunday.
After the last shot, somewhere in the background, someone said, โIโm very impressed.โ
Same. Very impressedโฆ and slightly concerned for the rest of us. ๐

This weekend, New England International Junior Shooting Sports and MMSC hosted the 16th annual New England Clay Cup, bringing together over a hundred athletes from a dozen schools across the Northeast for the most competitive New England collegiate shoot of the year.
Since its inception, only a handful of teams have claimed the Cup. In recent years, West Point has dominated the field, defending their title year after year. But the gap has been closing - most notably last season, when West Point edged out Northeastern by a single clay after combining the top three scores in s***t, trap, and super sporting from each team.
This year set the stage for a true battle.
Under sunny skies but challenging winds, targets flew unpredictably, demanding focus and adaptability from every athlete. Throughout the day, the leaderboard stayed tight, with multiple teams in contention and the outcome uncertain until the final tally.
After a full day of shooting - 50 trap, 50 super sporting, and 25 s***t - the scores were talliedโฆ and West Point and Northeastern were tied.
To break the tie, both teams agreed to a sudden-death shoot-off. The top three athletes from each team stepped up to shoot a pass of bunker trap, with the combined score out of 15 deciding the winner. The pressure was on, and every target mattered.
West Point came out strong, putting Northeastern at an early deficit. But Northeastern stayed composed and locked in, running the final targets to complete an incredible comeback and claim the Clay Cup for the first time.
An unforgettable finish to an incredible competition.
Congratulations to all the winners of the individual events, including Connor Gibson from SNHU for taking menโs HOA and Kendall Jones from West Point for ladies HOA.
Thank you to everyone who competed, attended, and supported the event, and to the volunteers who made it all possible. Weโre already looking forward to next year!
