Do you have questions about Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) benefits?

Join us at the Kernodle Senior Center on Thursday, September 17 at 11:30 a.m. for an informational workshop designed to help veterans and their dependents better understand available benefits.

Advance registration is required by September 11. Call 336-222-5135 to register.

Please join us September 17, 2026 at the Kernodle Senior Center for an important seminar covering DIC benefits. This event is open to veterans, surviving spouses and family members. We will discuss what benefits a surviving spouse may have available when a veteran dies and what important documents to have before that dreaded day comes. We hope to see you there! While our community centers and Recreation & Parks Main Office will be closed on Monday, September 7, there are still plenty of ways to get out and play!

• Parks: Open sunrise to sunset
• Burlington Pickleball Complex: 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
• Burlington City Park Amusement Rides: 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
• Burlington Tennis Center: 8:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.
• Lakes: 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• North Park Pool: 1:00–7:00 p.m.
• Splash Park: 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• The Valley Golf Course: Open. Book your tee time!

See Yellow? Keep It Clear!

As you visit Burlington Recreation & Parks facilities, please remember that parking is not permitted along yellow-painted curbs. These areas must remain clear to ensure emergency vehicles can quickly and safely access our parks and facilities when needed. Please park only in designated parking areas. Thank you for helping us keep our parks safe and accessible for everyone!

With storms expected this evening, we’re making a few changes to tonight’s 4th Fridays in Downtown Burlington. While our outdoor food trucks and vendors will not be set up downtown, the music is still on — and moving indoors!

Mini Movers is back this Friday, August 28 from 10 AM until Noon at the Mayco Bigelow Community Center.

Bring your little one out for a morning of moving, creating and exploring! Mini Movers gives young children a fun, welcoming space to play and connect with others through active movement, simple crafts and sensory play.

FREE — no registration required!

Caregivers must actively participate, and older siblings are welcome to join in the fun.
