What a visit! Ten Stars!!!!! Just view the photos ๐Ÿ“ธ
St Joseph Plantation
The Oak trees in front of the big house were planted by the founder around approximately 1820. He was a gardener. They are all that remains. I nice chat with a worker close to closing time. Although the Mississippi River is right beside this home, they never really experienced any flooding. The slaves were in charge of keeping the levee up to s***f. I was informed that the ground is level going out about half a mile or more to where the train tracks are. Then he says it drops off about 20 feet and it's all marsh. There are channels and distributaries running off in various points taking excess flood waters to the marsh. He said there was rarely any flooding pre-Civil War era. The massive New Orleans flood of 1927 didn't affect Oak Alley at all. Nor did many of the others.

Oak Alley Plantation Gift Shop & Cafe
After touring this most gorgeous tourist site (photos forthcoming) I stopped by their Cafe to grab a Pecan Pralines 'n Cream Waffle Cone plus a Pecan Praline Cookie per a suggestion from PBC fan and former High School classmate, Kim. The cone was very good..the cookie I will have later!

St. Louis Cemetery #1 in the heart of New Orleans was very high on my to do list. Maybe it's just the psychopath in me. Zelda was PBC's tour guide. The cemetery is run by the catholic archdiocese.

In 1789, they acquired the cemetery bc of Yellow Fever. They used to bury bodies underground. Then after rain, the bodies rose, mosquitoes bit the bodies, then bit a living person and spread the disease. Then there was the theory that gases from dead bodies spread throughout the city and would kill people. So they started burying people above ground inside vaults.

The Irish took up all the space in the cemeteries, so people were then buried in the walls. In the summer of 1855, 10,000 Irish people died from Yellow Fever. That's when people were started buried in the walls.

Entire families are buried in some of these huge tombs with numerous names listed. Only 1 has been closed in this cemetery due to maximum capacity. There are 75 people buried there, all family members. People are buried without their coffins.

Nicholas Cage will be buried in the Pyramid Tomb. Larger societies bury members of their factions in the huge blocks. Societies such as Italians, French, & Portuguese.

Easy Rider was allowed to come in to film their movie. They got rowdy and broke the hand off of the beautiful Italia sculpture. No movie site has ever been allowed since.

The French and the Americans did not get along. The Protestant section of the cemetery is way on the backside as being the Americans that did not want to become Catholics.

Dr John was a VooDoo Priest. He was allowed to have a tomb in this cemetery.

People used to have lunch in the cemetery. Therefore a stone table was built as a service for those.

The very 1st Mayor of New Orleans, รˆtienne de Borรฉ, invented a machine that could granulate the sugar. He became a very wealthy man. He is buried here.

Marie Philome, the Voodoo Quuen. Third most visited tomb in the country behind Elvis & JFK.

Lake Pontchartrain. Holy crap. I freaked for just a moment when getting close to New Orleans. In viewing the Interstate 10 crossing on the map, I figured it was just a lake. But I didn't compare it to the size of New Orleans. Much, much bigger! The bridge crossing was 5.5 miles!!! I would have never made it across the Mackinac bridge in northern Michigan en route to the Bryan Adams concert. I hear that one sways when it's windy. Louisiana sure knows how to build overpasses, bridges, and corkscrews. Holy bejesus. I did pass quarterback Chad Powers on the Lake Pontchartrain bridge driving his silver Tesla Cybertruck.

There were 3 other great photos ops that were pretty cool. Literally no traffic. But darkness was my enemy. I should have/could have stopped. You would have enjoyed them. A newly built High School jacked up for hurricane waters was way better looking than the one I took, a row of newly built homes (very fancy) all in a row that I thought looked awkward and funny, plus about 40 palm trees by a home that was in a very cool setting. None of these which I posted compare to those. Some of the Fort Jackson photos from earlier today I thought were pretty cool. Especially the mossy moat around the Fort. Out of this world kinda cool.

Not sure what all I'll view tomorrow. The Oak Alley Plantation sounds like it's the most prominent one in the entire region. That is on my list. But I did tour a smaller one last year. The St. Louis Cemetery apparently can only be viewed thru taking a tour. That fascinates me. Very psychotic. I noticed that many cemeteries have burials above the ground. Could the ground water level being so close to the ocean be a factor in this? New Orleans is known for haunted ghost stories, Voodoo, and vampires. That's why I'm thinking the cemetery tour or a Haunted History Ghost Tour kinda suits my city visit. The New Orleans Sightseeing Tour was something that I almost booked today. It's a 2.5 hour bus tour that covers a lot, but they pick you up at your hotel. Mine isn't on their list. So that is temporarily out. Walking the French Quarter or Garden District would be cool. I could possibly hit something on my way out of town Tuesday morning. But with a 14 hour drive, I don't want to mess around too much just in case I decide driving straight home.

Changes Restaurant is located in the last city on the Mississippi River. It's a town called Venice. With Visit Bemidji being a sponsor of ours and spending a night there, I researched that city and learned that Bemidji is the 1st city on the Mississippi River. Now I feel that I've come full circle in my final season visiting the first city, last city, and of course PBC Headquarters are located on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi.

Driving here, 1.5 hours south of New Orleans on a narrow strip of land was my very first agenda after arriving. After all, I am a driver and love to travel.

Then it was time to Google restaurants before leaving my New Orleans hotel. Gumbo, Cajun, and BBQ are probably tops in these parts. But I'm a fish lover. I checked many restaurants over the past week. I'm surprised that more don't offer a wider variety with the ocean being right here. Halibut is expensive. But hell. I would've sprung for that. I only have it like once a year anyway.

So, I ordered Catfish. Can never go wrong with it. Then I upgraded my fries to Onion Rings. Just look at my plate. Holy cow. The Onion Rings were tremendous. Possibly the best I've had this year. The Catfish. They were very good sized. Just like the Rings. Three of them. This was a meal fit for a king. But I'm just a Psycho. Extraordinary I must say. The customer service from this young Louisiana gal was very awesome as well. She answered a question regarding a Facebook LIVE that I was unable to do because of the flood wall. I'm going to run out of daylight. I kinda wanna get a short reel in from what is truly the MIGHTY MISSISSIPPI in these parts.

Psycho's on the road to "The Big Easy." New Orleans has been on my bucket ๐Ÿชฃ list as a place to visit. My job allows for lots 'o travel. But rarely do I get to dive off into side trips. But with the MLRA cancelation, I'll be spending 2 days there. I'll be sure to post photos. I'm working even when I'm on personal time. So that you can live vicariously thru me. ๐Ÿ˜‰
