Happy June! With the arrival of summer and the extended daylight, the Burlington Sacred Harp singing will once again move outdoors to Oakledge Park for the months of June and July. We will continue to meet on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 6-8 PM. We look forward to welcoming regular singers, newcomers and those we may not have sung with for a while in this beautiful seasonal setting.
We will meet at the Upper Pavilion, beyond the tennis courts. If you are able, please bring a folding chair. We will have some extra chairs and loaner books of the 2025 edition of the Sacred Harp available.
To reach the Upper Pavilion at Oakledge Park, follow these directions:
Navigate to Oakledge Park: 11 Flynn Avenue, Burlington, VT 05401. This address leads you to the main entrance of Oakledge Park
Enter the Park: Upon entering from Flynn Avenue, follow the road as it turns left and you'll see a parking lot to your left. Drive past the parkinglot, and past the tennis courts on your right, until you reach the far end parking lot.
Locate the Upper Pavilion: The Upper Pavilion is situated up on a hill to the right of the far parking lot

The Burlington Sacred Harp Singers meet regularly to sing together in the shape note tradition, primarily from the Sacred Harp.

The Burlington singing is moving outdoors to Oakledge Park for June and July! At last night’s singing, we decided that during the two months closest to the solstice — when the evenings stay light longer — we’ll gather once again by the lake at Oakledge Park, as we’ve done the past few summers.
We hope you’ll join us for lakeside summer singing on the first and third Wednesdays of June and July from 6–8 pm.

Join us this Wednesday, May 20 from 6-8 PM at the Osher Center for Integrative Health, 184 South Prospect Street, in Burlington for singing from The Sacred Harp! All are welcome, no experience necessary.
At the break, we will discuss the location of the Burlington singing during the summer months, and whether we will move outside to Oakledge Park, as we have the past few summers, or stay indoors at the Osher Center. If you have an opinion about this decision, but can't make it tomorrow, please let us know your thoughts. In particular, we would appreciate hearing from anyone who is not comfortable singing indoors and for whom an outdoor location would make participation possible.

An Artist Responds to War online film screening tonight at 8 PM! For those who didn't see this in Glover last weekend, it’s an inspiring film about Peter Schumann and the Bread and Puppet Theater. This 45-minute version – the Virtual World Premier – will be shown tonight (Tuesday) online at 8 pm and is a fundraising effort toward the release of the full-length film next year.

We’re loving our new singing space on the UVM campus. We had a great singing earlier this month, and got to sing with friends we hadn’t seen for a long time and meet new singers. We had a great Halloween singing in Burlington last week! Join us this Wednesday, November 5, from 6-8pm for singing from The Sacred Harp at the First Baptist Church in Burlington. Free parking behind the church and 2025 loaners available.
