How Trees Secretly Talk to Each Other in the Forest
What do trees talk about? In the Douglas fir forests of Canada, see how trees “talk” to each other by forming underground symbiotic relationships—called mycorrhizae—with fungi to relay stress signals and share resources with one another.

"In natural systems, nothing is wasted, since everything can be used by something else. Instead of using large inputs of energy and toxic chemicals to make things and ship them across the globe, nature makes what it needs where it needs it, with water-based chemistry."

14 Smart Inventions Inspired by Nature: Biomimicry: Nature as R&D Lab
Companies seeking breakthrough products tend to ignore the greatest invention machine in the universe: life’s more than three-billion-year history of evolution by natural selection. What’s missing is a systematic way of capturing nature’s creativity, says Janine Benyus, a biologist, "innovation...

A very interesting concept for a city! While some may point and say, "It sounds great, but all of that will never be accomplished," how can it hurt to start a city with such noble intentions? A plan to follow nature's design seems, to me, to be the most educated and effective plan!

GRADUATING?
For all those students drawing closer to graduation, I understand the unsettled feeling you have and I sympathize. We are headed into an unknown world that changes daily. There are no guarantees, but there are also no "right" directions to head in. Take a que from mangrove seeds and let the vast waters you're thrown to carry you to your next destination. Rather than terrifying, let the journey be exciting and surprising. If we just go on living, we'll sink our roots in somewhere eventually!
