This week, Kiwanis member Sarah Schwager provided a summary of the Burlington Library summer program.
Over 1900 attended their 30 events.
This included their reading and storytelling programs, babysitting classes, and fun events from mini golf to a bold “foam mess” thriller! Special guests included musicians, the snake lady, Burlington Fire, Burlington Police, Viva Farms and Skagit Raceway. What a summer success - thanks to the Burlington library staff!

The BEHS Kiwanis Key Club got off to a quick start with 52 students attending their kickoff meeting.
The Key Club Board president, Ella, announced their focus projects for the year.
The Club fundraiser is  Ronald McDonald House.
Their community support program is for seniors at Where the Heart is.
Board advisors DiAnn Cardona and Sarah Schwager also contributed to set the stage for the year.

“Kiwanis president Vicky Thalacker and secretary Nancy Fusare welcomed their newest member Noah Gaty to the club with an induction ceremony on Tuesday, July 21. The club is celebrating its 40th year on the island this year and welcome any new members.”

Jen provided the Kiwanis team with an overview of the critical support services provided by the Skagit Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault team. They handled 3,000 calls last year and provided direct assistance to hundreds of citizens. Thank you for all you do to protect the innocent.

This week we heard about the fantastic Campfire Samish camp experience for PNW local youth. Marcus described the 42 acre camp setting on Samish Island with perfect beachfront on Padilla Bay. What a terrific summer experience for over 1,000 kids. In addition, a staff of 50 “developing leaders” expand their skills as they lead the activities.
